A plethora of vehicle and aircraft systems.

Blast waves are actually more thorough than flames and more importantly they don't burn the shop next door down. Fire is also a lot more likely to cook off enemy munitions and explosives than a blast is.

Warfare is moving farther and farther away from actually killing individuals to just fuck levelling whole areas. Same thing with the drones, you can drive a squad of marines all over the fucking place to get them to shoot a guy, or you can just flatten his house from 10,000 feet.
