Why would you own a AR15 instead of a AR10?
223 bounces off skulls while 308 actually penetrates and kills.
>muh weight

>muh price
Get a job instead of roleplaying as a commando on an Internet board.
223 is just good enough to shoot rabbits with.

No seriously, give me at least 3 valid reasons.

I can tell you've either never used an AR10 or just want to feel good aboutt your shitty firearm purchase. You could have had an actual DMR, but you opted for a worse platform. If you just wanted to argue .308 vs .223 you could have, but instead you made it a platform argument and lost before you even hit post
>>
1. Volume of fire. No matter how strong you are you can always carry more 223 then 308.
2. Parts availability. -dont need to explain-
3. Options. You can get an AR-15 in any configuration you can possibly imagine
BTW im a 308 fan boy and i prefer running 308 rifles. But there are good sides to both.

Granted the US has not officially and legally declared war on anyone since 1942. We all know the Jewish takeover and ensuing wars to defend Israel and global Jewish interest stirred op some conflicts like the aforementioned which can definitely be classified as wars.

Both are capable rounds, I own both a AR-15 and a AR-10. The AR-15 is my main combat rifle while my AR-10 is my mid to long range engagement weapon platform.

5.56 works fine as a combat rifle so you don't need to carry around a 7.62 rifle unless you want to drop your target at a longer range than what 5.56 is capable of.

I can't speak for actual AP ammo, but it makes a fool out of steel cored 54r too.
Pic related is lots of steel core 54r, steel core 545, and a combo of lead core 545/762x39.
One shot with 556, and it melts through like butter nearly every time.
Out on my 400 yard steel, 308/54r makes a chump out of 556. 556, 545, and 762x39 all look about identical when they hit out there, except 762 is more likely to turn my hanging steel.

I can't think of a single situation where I'd want 308 over 556. It only has a slight advantage at longer ranges, and will do a bit better in windy conditions. I'd rather have more ammo.

If you want a real improvement, 6.5 grendel is a sweet spot for weight, capacity, and terminal ballistics.
>>
>>32680175
Is that 556 or 9mm? The wound profiles look so similar.

>6.5 grendel is a sweet spot
If it only was more common all around. One can only dream.

5.56 and 308 are both infrastructure. I would pick 308 because in my nightmares I am alone and I want to keep distance to my pursuers.

I am (as a hunter) very convinced on the devastating effect of mushrooming hunting bullets for 308 against unarmoured targets. I also have a small stash of exceptionally armour piercing rounds for it, to shoot through things.

I am not a long range shooter. I can't really do that with a proper confidence. But if there is a head size target at 200 meters, and it stays there immobile for the next 7 seconds, I will own it with my both 5.56 and 308. A head and upper torso visible for the same time at 300 meters, I will most likely hit the target with both calibers.

I still like more the 308, simply because it makes more damage at the same distance.

It's a special kit with a magwell block and buffer set. Lock it onto the AR-15 upper, slide it into the magwell and lock that pin in. The rear pin just sets into the upper's block.

It does mean you can only use the upper receiver it comes with for 7.62, though.

>>
>>32682869
Nope. Note that the Colt MARC 901's lower magwell pin point is on that pointed bit instead of the top like on normal AR-10/15s. It's an AR-10 you can use any AR-15 upper on with the kit.

The 7.62x51 Real Fucking NATO, performs better at all ranges over the 5.56x45. When people are saying that the M855 has slightly better ap ability than your standard M80 ball, that is unfare as far as comparisons go due to the former being a much newer round. And the M80 will still be a superior against other barriers.

Yes the new M855A1 and the MK362 are the best 5.56 rounds yet developed along with the awesome pure armor piercing M995, which unfortunately is super expensive. But guess what? The US has developed 7.62x51 versions of all of these rounds as well. The M993 can even give level 5 body armor a run for its money.

And? There's a ton of different calibers you can switch between on AR-15s just by swapping uppers and maybe the buffer. Because the lower receiver is the regulated firearm. This gives you the option to use those on a lower that also fits a 7.62x51 upper.

Not really. There'd be nowhere for the forward retaining pin block on an AR-15 upper to lock in, unless they started making special small-caliber AR-10 uppers.
