I have no idea what your requirements are. In Califailia you simply have to hit a paper plate at 21 feet a total of 7 times IIRC, no matter how many shots it may take. Then as soon as you start getting smug they put you under mild simulated stress and have the other people start yelling shit like FUR IS MURDER and FREE WILLY and HEY BATTER BATTER and all of a sudden you can't hit shit. Which is funny until the instructor explains that this is nothing like actually being shot at.

something to note with CZs is that you have to hold them lower than with other guns (especially with the SP-01) You don't want the web of your hand right up against the beaver tail, which makes the gun a bit awkward to shoot for people who aren't used to it

Don't feel bad, OP. I first got into handguns with a USP in .40. For the first three or four range sessions (a long time since I wasn't able to get out to the range much), I shot abysmally bad. I started getting better as time went on, though. I only noticed that I was what I would consider proficient with a handgun when I was at my friend's house and I was able to hit some old rattle cans on the first shot after drawing from a jeans pocket, and that was about a year and a half after I got the gun.

As time goes on, you get used to the gun. It points more naturally, and you acquire the sights faster. Just keep shooting and don't feel bad. It can only get better, friend.

Paper is good for seeing exactly where your shots are hitting. However, take some time to just shoot, even if it's just into a berm. Take some time to focus on other aspects of shooting instead of where the bullet is hitting on target. I found it easier to focus on trigger control, get used to the sound and recoil, and acquire my sights faster when not stressing out about the target and squinting downrange to see where I hit after every shot.

You can accomplish this by adding a snap cap or two into a magazine if you only have access to an automatic. Or just drop the mag out and dry fire a few times between live firing. I know it seems like it wouldn't help because you know the gun isn't going to go off, but seriously if you are flinching while firing you will find it by doing this. It helps smooth things out for me big time. Usually I shoot great at first and get worse as I go because I start anticipating as I get used to the rhythm.

I am right handed so for tyke first year of shooting growing up I shot right handed (I was ass btw) and then I found out I was left eye dominant and stayed shooting left handed. It took me about 1 range day to get over the "weirdness" of it and then I was accurate as hell. Like I can shoot a right handed rifle faster and more accurate than all my family can. I can hit a target at 100 m using a right handed savage .223 9/10 times in about 25 seconds and it takes my brothers and dad about a minute or more and they hit it 5-6/10 times.
