Redpill me on lever actions /k/
Ive always heard they were a meme for fuds and collecters but ive heard ppl say they are very accurate and smooth to shoot..being a sks/akfag i dont know what to think..i just dont want to fall for a outdated meme. What does /k/ have to say?

they're good guns. Many use pistol ammo so they can be cheap to shoot. Since you're an AK fag I recommend borrowing a marlin in some pistol caliber and see how you like it.
I live in Alaska and they definitely are fudd guns. The problem with them is you can't field strip them without tools.

>Redpill my memes ironically! Cuck!
Shut the fuck up.
Anyone who talks about "outdated" guns and uses a gun is a hypocrite.
We all use cartridges that are over a hundred years old, and I you don't then you're using a cartridge based on one that old.
And .45-70 lever actions are amazing. Literally better than .50 Beowulf and able to kill elephants.
Straight walled so reloading is easy plus there's like 200 years of load data.
Lever actions are OK.

they're fun. I don't own one but my brother has a Marlin in 30-30, great gun. My pops has one in .375 Winchester, it's quite a violent gun to shoot.
>>32662632
>smooth to shoot
an expensive or heavily used levergun will cycle fast and smooth. a cheap one will suck shit at the beginning and only get decent eventually
>>32662737
>and I you don't then you're
What?
Anon slow down on the typing and proofread.
>>32662632
I think it's safe to say they're not for you anon.
>>32662632
Not necessarily smoother shooting. Fun to operate, and one big "dump" of recoil in a short, linear impulse unlike the long impulse of AK/SKS types.

Pretty sure he meant
>if you don't then you're
just missed the F
As for OP, they're fun to shoot and accurate. .357/38 makes for a good multi-use one while still being decent for plinking, .44 is great for high power rounds with better capacity than a revolver, 30-30 is an old but well established hunting round, and 45-70 is the GOAT brush/trail gun.
I like them and I think most people who shoot them would recommend them.
They're great. The caliber they're in make them the perfect brush guns.

I have rossi 92 in .357/38 and a marlin 336 in 30-30. I want to get another lever action in 22LR and 45-70. They are fun guns and they shoot as straight as you will shoot them. The pistol caliber ones are very mild shooting and cheaper to shoot. One good thing about them is you can top off the magazine without opening the action.
Don't quote me on this but isn't 30-30 comparable to a 7.62x39? AK-fag OP should have no problem getting used to it ballistics wise.
>>32663258
>isn't 30-30 comparable to a 7.62x39?
In a few aspects, but there is significantly more energy behind 30-30. I wouldn't call them comparative.
>>32663258
Sorta.an average off the shelf 30-30 load is 150 gr travelling at 2390fps. while 7.63x39 averages 123gr travelling at 2421fps. so they travel at about the same speeds but the bullet weight of the 30-30 is higher so you will get more energy at short to medium ranges but it will also lose more energy at longer range. Over a longer distance the 30-30 will drop more than the 7.62x39 because of the added weight. This is why 30-30 is often seen as a good all around deer hunting round and the 7.62 an acceptable one.
>>32663384
U trollin? A 30-30 loses velocity and drops more at range because it's not as aerodynamic as a 7.62, not because it's heavier.

>.300 Win Mag lever gun
I didn't know this existed, and now I want one.
i have a burning desire in my heart for a marlin guide gun in .45-70
but if i buy one, ill have to reload for it, and i dont have to space right now to melt lead and cast...
>soon

Great gun to this day. Lacks in some areas, sure. But better capacity than a bolt, and quicker handling. A must-have for the woodsman in the brush country or who wants a flexible rifle platform.
Get one with a 16" barrel in .357 mag or .44 mag even .454 Casull and have yourself a gun that serves for saddle, woods, travel and defense.
>tfw dad has a super fucking nice Marlin .30-30 that he shoots one or two rounds out of a year at the most, usually at coyotes
>loading gate (or whatever it's called, I'm not knowledgeable on levergats) is still super stiff as if it's never even been loaded
What do you guys think about henry lever guns? I hear that they have great actions, but the lack of a loading gate kind of pisses me off. It totally removes the ability to top off the gun in combat.
Depends what you get, I got myself a Marlin in 45-70 and love the damn thing. Plan on going boorish hunting soon with it and I can't wait.
Mean time got my son a Golden Boy .22 and I'm jealous I got it for him so I bought myself one too. There's something whimsical about shooting a lever .22

>Golden Boy .22
I've shot a few of these before and I agree they're great fun, but I could never bring myself to spend $400 on a .22. Wish they made a cheaper model.
