Would selling off around 10% of your firearm collection to fund one of your "dream" firearms be a bad idea?

>pic related is what I have a lead on and am debating selling ~10 guns to get
>>
If I had enough guns to make an even 10% probably.

I only have four right now.
>>
>not getting a M2 made by our lord and savior JMB

Are you a faggot?
>>
>>32659006
Buy it.
>>
>>32659121
I dont have the funds to buy it outright, I only have around half of the total price. I need to come up with around $6,000
>>
Дшк люблю
>>
>>32659149
sell the stuff that has no senimental, historical, or collectors value and aquire
>>
>>32659310
I would say 90% of my guns have Historical or Collectors value. the Rough list of what I may sell is :

>Lee Enfield No4 MK1
>TOZ-17
>Steyr M95 Long rifle
>Non refurbed 1935 nugget
>1934 finn capure nugget
>1943 Waffen stamps intact no import P38
>Austro-Hungarian Capture marked M91
>Arsenal SLR-107CR
>Lee Enfield SMLE 1916
>Original barrel Bulgarian AKS74 kit

All of these I have duplicates of that are similar (I have like 8 M91's however that is my only AH capture)
>>
>>32659361
You'd be lucky to get $3,000 for that shit list.
>>
>>32659149
If you can't afford to buy it outright right now, then it's out of your price range. It no fuckin wonder so many people have no money and are in debt, fucking idiots spend every cent they have then when they don't have enough, they sell shit they already have just to afford something new. you are one step away from becoming a cash advance user.
>>
>>32659545
>gun is insanely hard to find
>one pops up for sale
>sell off shit that you do not need to live
>bad with money

How is what hes doing bad? Its not like hes refinancing his house.
>>
>>32659545
This. And I live in a motorhome.
No debt other than student loan , and that will be done soon.
>>
>>32659006
Is it full auto? On one hand, that shit will just increase in price. On the other hand, its price is only because of the Hughes amendment which will hopefully be abolished, but realistically probably not.

If you're okay with the tiny chance that the value of that gun will decrease more than half its value then go for it.
>>
>>32659575
>sell off shit that you do not need to live
if it was just this step i'd say that's pretty good with money, even better would be
>don't buy shit you do not need to live in the first place, obviating the need to sell it
>>
>>32659676
The least amount of profit I'm turning on one of these rifles is $200. I would have less money had I not bought these guns.
>>
>>32659361

I just spent like 5 minutes going through each thing and trying to put the price I thought it was worth to each item but I deleted it because that shit was beyond autistic to do.

I mean good luck and all man but most of that stuff outside of the SLR isn't particularly valuable or rare, so you're not going to be able to sell most of it quickly unless you go for superlow prices. I mean those dumb M95 straightpulls couldn't sell in the past at $65 a piece, they fucking suck and ammo is a bitch to find unless you reload.
>>
>>32659006
whats the point you wont be able to shoot it very often. get a dream gun you will actually be able to fire more than a few times a year
>>
>>32660005
I don't know anything about the others OP listed but the M95s have gone up exponentially.

10% of my firearms collection, by value (I
only have six guns right now), would be about $280.
So, I'm only about $20,720 away from an original transferable FN FAL!

Fuck.
>>
>>32660150
I didn't know they had the long rifles.
>>
>>32660164
I see no point in owning a full auto gun unless I was rich. Feeding it costs way too much.
>>
>>32660251
It gains value, while trump may be able to pull off some tricks with SBRs and Cans I do not ever see the registry being opened back up.
>>
>>32660267
That's true, it's worth it if you use it as an investment. I was talking about it as someone who would be shooting it.
>>
>>32659006
I'd get an Fallschirmjagergewehr 42
>>
>>32660291
I personally would just use the investment angle to explain it to my wife and dad so that I didn't look as insane buying a gun for $30k kek
>>
>>32660299
I'm actually on the list for one but it's about 2 months before I get it. The DShK is something I was not expecting.
>>
>>32660303
Good point. I'd feel conflicted knowing I could buy a brand new car outright for the price of that one gun.
>>
>>32659545
Good greif. Thank you. More people need to hear this.

Why do poor people think debt is the devil?
>>
>>32659647
>but realistically probably not.
If there was ever a chance then it's in the next 8 years. The Republicans have all of the branches of government.
>>
>>32660460
It will not happen. Hell I have doubts we'll get the hearing protection act passed, and the arguments for that are way easier to make.
>>
Why would a .50bmg belt fed semi be your dream gun? It's 100% pointless.
>>
>>32659149
>buying a semi automatic DShK.

why
>>
>>32660328
Pretty dank. I got to fire one at a local NRA Gold range event. I was tempted to buy it off the guy then and there. They're impressive weapons.
>>
>>32660611
Was it a real one or a SMG semi?
>>
>>32660601
Because its better than a M2 Semi
>>
>>32660902
Neither of those are good

Get good and buy a transferable.
>>
>>32660948
They dont have transferable DShK's
>>
>>32659006
How do you get that to the range? Hitch it to your car? Or is your range in your backyard?
>>
>>32660431
Because they don't understand opportunity cost or how investment works.
>>
>>32661130
You take the barrel off and throw it in your vehicle.
>>
>>32660303

At that pricepoint it makes more sense to find some likeminded individuals and open up title 2 shop to buy post samples
>>
>>32659006
I only own 3 guns. You literally baffled me because how would I break that down to 10%?
>>
>>32661154
It's stupid to do for guns. It's a fucking hobby
>>
>>32659006
>bad idea?

Depends on what you are selling and buying. I don't think you would shoot that gun much so my guess is that it's not worth it unless you want a conversation piece. I say you should buy a "normal" 50bmg rifle. I was looking into the Steyr 50 M1 at some point.

I have an SG-43 waiting to be build but I'm waiting for someone to use a "binary trigger" in one before I send it off. The semi builds use AR triggers. It would still probably not get shot very often....unless 54r gets cheap again. :(
>>
>>32662298
Why would you short a "normal" .50 more than a belt fed? Both are basically range toys
>>
>>32662716
At least they are accurate
>>
>>32662716

Yes, I would. I'm assuming he just wants a 50, so that's the only reason I recommended that.

I know that you think they are on par, but I assure you that they aren't. As I've stated, I have the parts to build a heavy belt-fed and the weight is absurd. You have a HEAVY gun, a heavy mount or sandbags and cans full of belted ammo. Not only that, but it is a proccess to load the belts. When you consider everything it's much easier (and cheaper) to grab your 50 bolt action with a few mags and a can of ammo.

A 50 bmg precision rifle is a lot pore practical than a belt-fed semi, period.
