It's called Global Response Force. One battalion needs to be ready to deploy at all times and be able to land where they're needed within 17 hours, with the rest of the Brigade following up within 24-30 hours.

I'm a muhreen and I don't regret enlisting in it.

That being said, Marines really are becoming more and more obsolete as the years go by, all the missions that we used to do are being taken over by other branches/ parts of the military.

Amphibious ops, while they rarely even happen anymore, is something that we haven't done exclusively in a long fuckin' time, the WWII with the European and Pacific theater combin, the Army technically did more amphib ops than we did.

The SOF has taken our historical job of being a raider force, why send in a boatful of Marines when you could just drop a few SOF guys in and save yourself the logistical and PR nightmare?

The only job that we still do exclusively is Embassy and Ship guard, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan proved that we haven't been implemented correctly and the disastrous results of it with all the nation building and police bullshit, the last time we actually did anything remotely close to our original mission was the attle of Fallujah where we practically steamrolled the muj.

I'm afraid we really are a dying breed and if we don't do something soon to remain relevant, we might finally get the axe.

My suggestion? Try to take us back to our raider days, keep the Marines busy and let them get valuable combat experience

Depends on your definition of hazed, boot camp was annoying and a mind fuck, MCT was a bunch of I'm Up, He Sees Me, I'm Down shit like boot camp and hiking, AAV school was a hazefest with amtrack pullups, daily squadbay field days till 3 am and getting choked out by instructors.

Now the fleet was way more relaxed than I thought it'd Be after all that, my asshole was puckered up most of my first week in the fleet but nothing too crazy happened outside of the weekly remedial field day, head shavings for deployment, having tools thrown at you and fields ops/work ups.

I was in 2012-2016, when I finally hit the fleet in '13 the last of the combat vets who were E-4 and below were getting out, after that it was just the senior sergeants and SNCOs who were combat vets, I heard some gnarly war stories from those guys

I got to go to the middle easy but all I did was pull security at the Iraq/Kuwait border and drive tracks in the sand.

One of them was a trap house that had like 5 different hidden compartments and secret passageways, and even an entire hidden basement that my platoon overlooked when we raided/cleared it. Word is they're finally testing a new design called the ACV, we saw some of the prototypes rolling in around mid '16.

Thing is that it's all wheels, no tracks on it and its the only thing their testing besides add ons for the P7 like a replacement for EEAK and upgrades for the C7, rumor is they'll start phasing out the P7s by 2020
