A PTR isn't a meme gun. I bought one, and I'm telling you, I fucking fell in love the very first time I squeezed the trigger.
Shit I've done to my GI-R
Trigger job from Williams Trigger Specialities in Atwood, IL
HK handguard
HK bipod
HK-21 charging handle
HK carry handle
Nikon Prostaff 7 4-12x42mm on a Burris PEPR QR mount
looks mighty fine OP

>HK carry handle
>Nikon Prostaff 7 4-12x42mm on a Burris PEPR QR mount
What's the point? Can you even use the carry handle?
>>32645338
Yeah, the mount is a quick release. Pops right on and off, no problem. Keeps zero, too. It was recommended to me by a guy who knows his shit, and he was right.
Welcome to team PTR anon, dominating /BRG/ for 4 years and counting
I love my CETME C. I was lucky enough to find one almost new. Is a beast, a really fun rifle. I wouldn't change it for a PTR or HK.
>>32645105
welcome to the club
mine is a frankenstein of PTR / HK G3 / SPRINGFIELD / CETME / and shop parts that i put together myself
the wife calls it my baby
it is truly my SHTF gun
its the gun that when i hold/shoot it it feels like i can handle anything that's going to happen
>>32645105
I want to like mine, but it can't group for shit, ESPECIALLY off a bipod. I also didn't do my homework, so my 3-9 scope on it is too long to leave room for the charging handle
I might just sell it and get the F model with the bull barrel
>>32645505
Is your trigger stock? If not, Williams will absolutely transform it. Best damned thing you can do to the rifle. And the price is super fair. Shipping is easy too, because all you need to send him is the trigger pack.
I want to get one in .308..
Is there a significant difference in the types? I noticed Atlantic firearms has a few different ones.
>>32645516
I got a pack in from Bill Springfield, it's fucking incredible. 4lb ish clean as fuck break, absolutely no takeup or overtravel, it's really something else.
Didn't improve my groups, though.
I may have some freak of nature barrel that likes lighter ammo despite its 1-10 twist, though. Currently it groups 3MOA with Gold Medal Match
>>32645531
Wow. That sucks then. :(
>>32645801
It may be my scope or scope rings, but I doubt it.
I really don't get to shoot it often enough to run it through its paces with a variety of ammo, hopefully that'll change soon
>>32645865
How well did it shoot before you put the scope on?
>>32646027
I didn't shoot it much with irons before I put the scope on. I didn't know the proper sight alignment for the first setting and didn't have any way to rotate the rear sight to another setting
>>32646041
>didn't have any way to rotate the rear sight to another setting
You don't have fingers?
>>32646075
Fug, that's right, the pliers are for changing the elevation.
Either way, I didn't shoot good ammo through it with irons. I'll probably try that as soon as I can find the time, though.
>>32645105
Why buy PTRs?
>>32646086
>I didn't shoot good ammo through it with irons.
You don't have to shoot good ammo through it with irons.
>>32646105
Because they're the only company that puts out a G3 clone that doesn't look like your webm
>>32646128
I like Century's stuff more than PTRs, they've been making those guns for a long time.
>>32645525
.308 and 7.62 nato
are for the G3 platform functionally the same
>>32646134
>they've been making those guns for a long time
who's been making which guns for how long?
Century's been making exploding guns for a long time.
>>32646181
Ok, so you had to send the gun back?
Why does everyone get upset about sending a gun back to have it fixed?
>>32646198
Not mine
>The first shot literally blew the barrel off
Do you seriously think that's acceptable? No wonder you're content with Century products
>>32646210
Everyone puts out a lemon sometimes, it's something we have to deal with.
My PTR and FAL. I like the PTR more.
I have a carry handle on my c93 that I'm the king of putting IMG on my PTR. My only complaint with PTR is that the paint they use is too thick. It effects fitting just a little but.
I added a HK wide handguard, HK bipod, German green furniture, PA 5x prism optic and German sling. I want to add a port buffer.
>>32646229
FAL seems more structurally sound just by looking at it. PTR seems like it has more parts.
One thing I really like about the G3 is how easy they are to disassemble and clean. They are even easier than an AR.
>1985+32
>Using antiquated roller-lock weapons
>and knock-off ones at that
At least you probably have a loose asshole to store some feeler gauges and different sized rollers in so your memerifle doesn't kill you.
>>32645105
Is there a way to make it not chew up brass?
I want to get one but also want to reload 308 eventually
>>32646916
Brass deflector
>>32646347
You could think that but you would be wrong. The G3 is phenomenally sturdy and simple.
>>32646916
This isn't a reloading brass kinda rifle.
>>32645105
How badly does it beat up the brass? The last guy I asked told me there's some sort of buffer you can install that helps, but it still gets bent up some. And I'm a reloaderfag, so that's a big red exclamation point.
>>32646943
>field strip is complete disassembly
>field strip parts = total parts
Nice meme, kid.
>>32646916
The chamber flutes make extraction reliability near 100%, but also destroy the casings in the process. This is not an issue for the military.
>>32646955
There's a rubber buffer of sorts you can get to reduce, but not eliminate the casing dents. This might not be a rifle for you if reloading is more important than reliability.
>>32647120
Please, you didn't even get a rise out of me.
>>32645105
I'm about to get my hands on an HK91. Thoughts on what sort of low magnification or red dot optic I should consider?
>>32647125
>The chamber flutes make extraction reliability near 100%, but also destroy the casings in the process
Unless the flutes are messed up that's certainly not true. The flutes just leave marks for the most part. The majority/worst of the damage comes from the brass hitting the edge of the ejection port as seen in your pic. A port buffer provides a little rubber pad (as seen in this pic) that covers the edge of the ejection port and should pretty much completely prevent that damage.
>>32647054
ok give me a sec I'l go check in WOG
>>32647054
>>32647241
G3 returns 118 parts, the FAL returns 127
So close. My point remains that the G3 is robust and simple.
>>32647270
It'd be nice to know what year and models we are comparing here.
>>32647295
>>32646347
Hahahahha
Nope
Mine is very accurate and since I'm use to shooting DA/SA and revolvers I don't think the trigger is that bad. Still going to buy one of those match trigger sets as soon as they come back in stock. Also considering a 10x or more due to its great accuracy. 6x just doesn't do it justice.
>>32647054
You are pure cancer.
>>32647321
Does the game always look that bad or are you playing on a toaster?
>>32647321
Waiting on that PTR pic...
also
>1956 model
>muh video gaym
lol
>>32647295
>>32647364
Booty blasted PTR fanboy detected.
>>32645105
Looks good OP. I love mine.
>>32647372
I definitely don't remember it looking that bad when I played.
>>32647378
That date represents when the first G3 was introduced. The model is a G3A3, which is relatively current. If you think there are major internal differences between the clone and the original besides the select fire mechanism you are kidding yourself.
>>32647321
>>32647387
I'm sure they haven't changed at all in the past half a century. Nice, "facts" kid.
>>32646105
>>32646181
>>32647125
nice gun lol
>>32647390
Damage control detected
The FAL has slightly more parts than the G3, nothing to get upset over.
>>32647372
>>32647391
it looks better in the actual disassembly screen.
>>32647410
>my video game told me so it's true!
You have to be 18 or older to post here.
>>32647444
Well once you refute it I'll totally accept that
but you haven't proved otherwise
>>32647460
Burden of proof is on you, kid. I said it, "looks" and "seems" like the FAL is simpler. You used a video game as a, "source." So uh, yeah, nah.
>>32647500
That's fine
You assumption is incorrect. Most countries that picked the G3 over the FAL did so because manufacturing was easier and unit cost was lower.
>>32645105
>A PTR isn't a meme gun.
Did somebody say it was?
>>32647689
nobody important
just cucks and faggots
>>32646105
>"PTR"
>clearly not a PTR
>Not getting B&T furniture for your PTR
>interactive software is by definition incorrect
Hard to kill your self with that one.
