One of the things that I hear about .45 is that it's "old, slow, big and obsolete." Doesn't that make it a great home defense cartridge though? something that won't over-penetrate but will stomp a mudhole in a motherfucker?
nope.

Technically frangible 5.56 is safer to shoot with loved ones behind walls than .45ACP.

yes

My current home defense setup is an AR with Fragnable ammo. Only problem is it would be a legal nightmare

I literally only carry a .45 because I don't own a 1911 in another caliber.
If I owned a .38 Super 1911 I'd rather carry that, but the .45 with 230gr HST's is still perfectly adequate.

no, it wouldn't.

Over penetration in a home defense situation is a meme arguement. Unless your killing someone with a high power rifle your bullet isn't gonna fly out the back of someone and go through a wall killing someone else. But a .45ACP FMJ won't penetrate as much as a 9mm FMJ will so you're right. If you're using home defense ammo then conventional ammo won't blow though someone if you hit them where you're supposed to.

Do you live in New Jersey? Other than them no other states come to mind for hollow point/ frangable issues

Because retards on the internet need something to argue about.

Lighter grain 45 moreso but yes the extra surface area helps but the increased mass can still aid in over penetration
