My colt 1991 9mm had the same, I assume it some sort of Autism they do for Australia if it's not done in the states. And yeah anything about 38 is "restricted" but if you want to go above its easy as sending a letter to the commissioner of police saying you want 45 stopping power.(at least in tassie)

Picked up some nice timber grips without diamond or medallion from an eBay seller in Canada - just like John Browning would have wanted. Need to do a beesdick of minor fitting in the screw holes before I can mount them though.

When you say loose, what exactly do you mean? I was expecting rattles, but it seems pretty tight (could be factory grease holding it in place as I haven't cleaned it). Should it be a certain way to check? I.E. cocked/uncocked, mag/no mag

Most likely the importer. Just remove the slide and use some acetone to remove it. It shouldn't hurt the finish any.

If you jiggle the gun around the barrel might rattle against the bushing a little bit. The rest of the gun's internals shouldn't move around.

Mine has a but of slide movement when locked and the barrel can move a tiny bit too but it's nothing to worry about. I'm coming form a Usp expert and a chinise 1911 clone which was so tight it drew blood a few times. As long as it doesn't rattle like something will fall off its fine, and if it shoots straight then you got nothing to worry about. Pic related

With the gun loaded and magazine inserted, when you press down on the barrel, does the barrel move at all. An unloaded 1911 might have a little barrel movement but a loaded one should not.
