I have trouble telling AK-47's and AKM's apart, are there specific details that define what gun it is?

No slant muzzle brake on AK47.
AK47 Stock slant is more pronounced.
I think I have those right. Not an ak guy

This is an AK-47 and you will never see one in real life. No other rifle but one that looks exactly like this is an AK-47. The other milled rifles will be Type II receiver rifles and Type III receiver rifles which are officially referred to as AKs. The AKM has a stamped Type IV receiver.

T2 for comparison.

T3 for comparison.

Also to clarify, the AK-47 is not milled. It's stamped, hence the weird front trunnion.

That's an AKM. You can tell it's a stamped receiver by the small stamped dimple by the magazine well. On a milled receiver it's a larger lightening cut. The other giveaways are the rivets and trunnion, which is a pressure bearing component under the rear sight that mates the bolt to the barrel since that part can't be made out of stamped steel. On a milled AK it's just part of the receiver. Slant muzzle brake is also a quick hint, as is the furniture. One piece bakelite pistol grip, widened front handguard and different rear stock geometry hint at AKM. AKs have a 2 piece wooden grip that's more swept back with a metal connecting plate and a slicker front grip with no side bulges.

It's called a ferrule and it's meant to stop the pistol grip from cracking like it has done in>>32591695

So type II & III are milled? And do milled and stamped have different performance?
>>32591927
original ak was supposed to be stamped but russian manufacturing wasnt capable of doing it consistently so it became milled
>>32591927
Yes T2 and T3 receivers are milled. You can tell because they have that lightning cut under the ejection port. T2 has a slanted lightening cut while the T3's is not. Milled and stamped do not have different performance but stamped guns are lighter. The AK-47 and T2/T2 AKs are probably more accurate than the AKM because they have a heavier barrel profile, though. the reason T2 and T3 are milled receivers is because the Russians had trouble manufacturing the Type I stamped receiver the AK-47 had, specifically the rails the bolt carrier rides on.

The AK had a threaded muzzle from the start.
That shit is wrong and I don't know why you felt the need to post it.
