Why do some operators have scissors stuck on the front of their vest? Is that what is known as a tactical tailor?
>>
>>32588430
Not sure if troll...

It's for cutting away gear and clothing to expose wounds
>>
Its to take off clothes quickly.
>>
>>32588430
As an emt, its sime real nigga bullshit. Carrying shears is what all the cool kids think tactical medicine is all about. Literally the least important thing. Let me know when any of you retards know how to administer any real medical attention.
>>
>>32588445

Do they also carry tactical needle and thread kits? Because that sounds like a dick move.
>>
>>32588447
That sounds pretty gay senpai
>>
>>32588468
Why don't you teach people
>>
>>32588468
This thread is now about you teaching us proper medical care for a bullet wound
>>
>>32588469
You won't care about your clothing in that moment. GIs in WW2 even had their boots laced in a specific way so they could cut them open instead of removing the leggins, which was a very tiemly process.
>>
>>32588469
>get shot
>can't access wound

1. Get scissors
2. Cut off clothing
3. Cut off fingers accidentally
4. Stab bad guy with scissors to ensure a safe environment for surgery.
5. Cut out bullet with scissors
6. Use gluestick to fix everything

So easy a kindergartener could do it.

Go to a TCCC course. No amount of infographics on internet is going to substitute for a real hands-on trainning where pros correct your mistakes and give you real life protips. After you know what you're doing and have trained hands-on and under pro supervision you can learn more by reading on the internet. Thats where those infographics come in handy.

Basic lifesaving skills are simple as fuck and can be learned in a few hours. The tricky part is you have to do the tricks correctly. This is why you need training.

I took an IMO-40 medical course as part of maritime college.
After taking that and going through the gruesome pictures in the book (including childbirths, all manner of burns and assorted fragments stuck in eyes) I've never felt less like operationally operating my way into operationally operating someone who has sustained damage whilst engaged in operational operations. Not so much because the pictures were too bad, but because, you know, I was supposed to know what to do about it, like getting my hands up in there. I'm not particularly squeamish, but so fuck me sideways that stuff was disgusting and unnerving.
And if that was a course for merchant sailors, I cannot for the life of me imagine how awful combat medics and actual doctors would have it.
Or was it your intention all along to make people aware of the horrors of providing first aid and stop them from buying Leatherman Raptors?

you laugh but blood loss causes lots of people's priorities to get fucked up.
it's a blast watching a fool struggle against getting his pants cut when they're already totally ruined when they were torn apart in a car crash and bled all over.

A mere TCCC course barely scrapes the surface and mostly has to do with applying a tourniquet, a pressure bandage and a occlusive dressing which are in most battlefield cases enough to save a life in short timeframe.

As I stated earlier, even though the tasks are relatively simple to do it is of utmost importance to do them correctly and in the right situation. Pressure dressing applied insufficiently or in the wrong place is of no use.

Your course was clearly a more long-term oriented and went a little deeper. Even though knowledge adds the pain, Im sure you rather have than not have that basic knowledge in your everyday life.
