Ok, so I read the sticky and found no pertinent information on the subject of higher caliber ARs.
What in /k/'s opinion is the most well built, and cost effective .308 or 30-06 AR available on the market?
I remember hearing somewhere that the SR-25 was a meme and wasn't reliable but is that true? Are there any outstanding competitors?

Bump, wanna know about those rifles

GA Precision GAP-10 G2

>Ok, so I read the sticky
I like you.
There are basically two patterns available: DPMS and Armalite. IIRC, DPMS patterns make up something like 80% of the market, so going with one of those would be the smarter move.
As for specific brands, I'm not entirely sure which give the best quality/price, though telling us what your budget is would definitely help in narrowing down a nice rifle or good components to assemble one yourself.

LMT .308 MWS

>Cream of the Crop
SR-25

higher than what?
>>32586610
Actually LMT and the DD5V1 are at the same level as the SR25.
How do I post in the sticky?
>>32586682
eh, i think thats just, like, your opinion man
>>32586858
You're right. But I happen to own 2/3 and the LMT, the one I don't own, I have experience with.
>>32586520
The finest is the SR-25. The GAP-10 is great too.

Don't read the stickies, they're written by the idiots on this website who have no idea what they're talking about. It's all the prevailing groupthink at the time.
I don't follow shit as far as people circle jerking the new lastest and greatest, so for what it's worth, I picked up an Anderson 308 that was at a damn good price and it's done well.
Following all the arf

Wooops
Following all the arfcom spergs will just get your wallet drained because a certain rifle is the new meme at the time
>>32588146
>The SR-25, a 27 year old rifle, is a meme
Ok.
niqqa the SR25 is THE best 308 AR
except it's too pricey for the average civvies

>a new challenger appears
cant withtsand all those sexy mismatched browns
>>32588981
Nigger there is no difference between this HK csass and the SR25
the HK CSASS is simply a glorified HK417 with an OSS suppressor
the army is simply autistic and wants to waste money

>piston AR
>challenger to the glory of the SR-25
Nah senpai
>>32588998
its most likely cheaper.
and it has lower MoA requirements

M1A scout or M1A Socom 16

Stop the Springfield meme, at least recommend a good M14.
>>32586610
I shot an M&P-10 and it kicked way harder than I expected. Not sure what the problem was but it had a far meaner recoil than even really light .308 bolt guns I've used like the Steyr Scout.
>>32589082
huh, i know they dont use a rifle length gas system
>>32586520
Woah, wait, there's .30-06 ARs? What sort of sorcery is this?!
>>32589518
There is some Eastern European country makes an AR in 7.5 Swiss and 6.5 swede so a 30-06 shouldn't be too far off
Why don't you just buy a lower and build it yourself?
That's what I'm doing.
>>32589544
Luvo Prague does
Nemo Arms makes .300 Win mag ones
don't know why you'd want a .30-06 AR when .308 and .300 Win are available

Ammo compatibility. I have an AR15 in 5.56 NATO, that's all very well and good. Whatever. But I have a Marlin 1895 SBL and a Magnum Research BFR in .45-70, that shares ammo. I have a Henry Mare's Leg and a Colt New Frontier, both in .45 Colt, they share ammo. I have an International Harvester M1 and an Eddystone M1917, both in .30-06. If I could have an AR in .30-06, I'd sell my 5.56 AR and double down (or triple down, in this case) in .30-06 ammo and it simplifies what I have to keep around the house.

Hi,
The first question would be how do you intend to use this rifle? There are a few different species in the large-caliber AR world that, while the same genus, are adapted to different roles! The real choice comes down to how you plan on using the rifle.
