Why hasn't someone made essentially a double stack tube magazine, something like this crude paint sketch I drew? Seems like a pretty obvious improvement for lever guns, shotguns, etc.
1. Rimlock
2. Physics

Eh, doesnt seem like a terrible idea to me, but I imagine there would be a lot of feed issues.

You see, no one is setting out to improve on an antiquated design. It is pointless.
It defies the laws of physics as we know them today. Specifically the parts about electrons repulsing other electrons. So you'll need antimatter. Probably drives up production costs.

Stick a plate between the two rows of rounds, like on a PMR 30 magazine.

Shotguns aren't antiquated.

I'd like to see a pump action or lever action that uses magazines like the p90, especially in something like 10mm

Literally no advantage to just using a detachable magazine.

because it can be even simpler, pic related, and has the advantage of switching ammo type on a whim

It is a detachable magazine, just turned horizontal.

But that's not how a PMR30 mag works.

I always forget about this.

helical tube mags for a pump or lever action would be neat too but probably cost a lot.
