I see alot of 22 threads on here so why not make a general.
>Post your rifles and ask questions
Whats the longest distance I could try kill a raccoon at? Im sick of this little bastard raiding my trash cans and generally fucking with my doggo

This is now a .44 Magnum general

If you had one of these and some decent marksmanship you can bag a coon from at least fifty yards.
Suggestions on things to shoot while plinking. Range time always end up with us trying to shoot smaller and smaller things to see whos a better shot

Little badger is a nice rifle.
Mine has now had ten thousand rounds of CCI Quiet and still groups an inch at fifty meters with the quiet and half inch with match ammo.
I used it to transition my daughter from air to rimfire, after a hundred rounds she was hitting an old cast iron fry pan at fifty meters every shot from the standing unsupported. Not bad for a seven year old. she took her first rabbit with the badger last week.

How far away is your trashcan? You can reasonably be expected to hi anything withing 150 yards, and to kill anything within 400 yards.
You tried conibears yet if you live in the suburbs? Or a live trap? You use a live trap through hell come back if you drop him off within 25-30 miles. But if you kill him with a connibear you can skin him and pelt him out.
Trapper here. Ask me anything. What kinda rifle you using?

I've used this and I've used a single shot bolt action pistol with a suppressor to kill them when I sold the meat. I'd have a sign at the gas station and I'd let the old black men come by, pick which ones they wanted and sell the meat by the pound. Usually 5-8 dollars a pound. Skinning was 15. Pelt was 10 uncured 20 cured. You won't match those prices on the actual market but it makes a decent side gig. I usually fed them table scraps and deer corn. Built me a pen under my house (old 40s model, no insulation, hardwood floors) and had some dogs to keep them in the cage.
My .22s, currently have a laundry list of shit I'm waiting on and need.
Waiting on...
>Rail mount for CZ
>10 round mags for CZ
>BX-15 round mags
>Harris bipod for 10/22
>Tacticool sling for CZ
>Mag baseplates for CZ
Future plans
>New stocks and glass for both CZ and 10/22
>Full trigger pack upgrade instead of the VQ hammer pack for 10/22
>Threaded bolt handle/oversized tacticool bolt knob for CZ
I want to make the CZ a tacticool light plinker/backpack rifle, and the 10/22 a bench target rifle. I also want to get an Uberti Cattleman .22, and maybe a S&W M&P15-22.
Make way for the superior. 22 rifle and righteous natty gains.

Is 22 Mag welcome here?
I kind of want a pocket gun for when summer comes around.

My first 22lr, a Mossberg blaze.
It's mostly just plastic and I have to undo like 16 screws to take it apart/ adjust the rear sight. Not the most user friendly. Still fun to shoot though, and it was dirt cheap and weighs nothing
Anyone have one of those gsg mp5's? They were on sale near me for $300, I bought a 10/22 instead, but now I'm wondering if I might have enjoyed dat hk slap
>>32574928
Get that shit they look nifty and are cute little plinksters. I'm picking one up once my W2s come back
I got a Marlin 75c for xmas that hadn't been fired in years and didn't clean it out and it double fed and jammed like a mother fucker after two shots yesterday. I'm gonna give 'er the old hoppes/rem oil today, dunno if I wanna drive a half hour back out to the range though.
I live near the adirondaks so I'm pretty excited to hunt small game on camping trips.
Probably going to pick up one of those new Mark 4 22/45 lites. Anyone have any experience with them? Also are suppressors worth it? Seems like one of the quietest weapons you can have.
>>32577103
Do a full break-down and clean it.
May need to boil the bolt.
I've seen several times when a semi-auto .22 (one of them was a Model 60) that were hopelessly gummed up from someone just spraying WD-40 in the breech instead of properly cleaning it.
It attracted so much particulates from the chamber that the bolt looked like it was encased in modeling clay.
>>32577487
so literally just put the bolt in boiling water? for how long? I don't think my grandpa used wd-40 on it but it probably hasn't been cleaned in like 20 years
>>32577050
>Anyone have one of those gsg mp5's? They were on sale near me for $300
The Umarex/Walther licensed HK branded MP5 are significantly better than the GSG abortions.
>>32577580
I usually just take a small pot of water and bring it to a gentle boil, remove from heat, put the bolt and all in a small plastic container and pour enough to cover it by about an inch.
You don't need a rapid boil and you don't really want it on a direct heat source/directly on the stove.
Just have it scalding hot and let it steep for at least five minutes.
Make sure you get some gloves to handle it because you're going to want to start scrubbing and cleaning it out while it's still fairly warm before any potential crap in there has a chance to re-solidify.
The Model 60 I had to clean out was the worst gun cleaning I ever did. aged cosmoline had nothing on it.

I just finished my 10/22 for 25 yard bullseye. Shoots like a dream, but it doesn't like RWS ammo. Blazer shot better than RWS Target Rifle at half the price
10/22 with Gemtech Mist integral.
I need to get the suppressor coated silver or buy a black 10/22 and put the silver barrel back on this one.

Is there a drum for the 10/22 that isn't a piece of shit?

Why the fuck do all these fudds buy out all the 22 from walmart to try and sell it on armslist for $2 more per box? Is it really fucking worth it?

You need to be more specific

Exactly. I refuse to buy 22 from private sellers unless it's just an insane deal I can't pass up. Walmart and Cabela's can have my money.

Mossberg 151
My very first gun from years ago. It came with the worst scope on earth but with irons it's pretty accurate.
Just inherited this Stevens from my Grandpa. Think I should look for the flip sight to finish it out, or leave it like great-grandaddy bought after the war?
