Walther PPS M2 $369 minus ffl transfer

Is this an auto buy? I don't have a carry gun.

It's a good travel gun, conceals well

I carry it more than the gun I first intended to carry. Very comfy. I have it with this Dara holster. Easy to pick up and clip it in some gym shorts. All my friends that try it prefer the ergonomics over their carry guns. Get the Law Enforcement version; it has night sights and an extra mag.

So compact that fat finger TSA can't even feel it when checking your bag

I would've bought it for that for sure

I know, I know. I actually went in there to buy fishing gear though, and I prefer full-size pistols. So I didn't blow my load
>>
>>32560455
Yes, they are good to go. I ordered my PPQ from there and they shipped it out the following day. Free shipping as well.
>>
>>32560455
Bought a few items from Gunbuyer this past year and had great experience each time. Would recommend. Sent them an email during the week of Christmas to clarify something on a listing and received an auto-reply message along the lines of "we are insanely busy right now" but then a real person replied within 24 hours.

PSA is under $350 for a Shield.

For single stack 9, the way to go is a Glock 43. However, if money is that much of a concern, Shield is next. PPS M1 I liked a lot, M2 feels like shit. Spend less for the less shit shield. That way, if for whatever reason you feel the need to walk into a B&M store for mags/holster etc. almost guaranteed to have it, whereas PPS M2 no. They don't sell worth a shit at work, and as such we don't bother carrying mags or holsters. We will order them if people want them, but to date since the gun was released I have had all of 2 S/O actually follow up, pay, and get their magazines.

>>32560553
TSA doesn't check after you land. You declare the pistol, they verify it's unloaded and locked in, put a approval slip on it, then throw your bag on the carousel.

You receive your gun as soon as you grab your bag. Not a big deal because baggage claim is outside gates, so any psycho could just walk in with a firearm at that point in an airport.

>>32563490
It's very comfortable to hold and just as reliable as the rest. Also handles recoil well for a pistol that size. I'd say it ties the Glock 43, but is cheaper.
>>
>>32564288
Forgot to add that the airlines DON'T want the fine officers of the TSA or airline workers to know what bags have declared firearms in them due to theft

Hence why they put a slip to verify it's been declared if Shaqunda sees a gun on the X-ray.
>>
>>32564320
I would just say the Shield, G43, and both PPS models are the pinnacle of the subcompact 9s. You can't go wrong with any if them.... unless Walther discontinues the PPS M1 because Murica can't into paddle release.
>>
>>32564209

>Shield being the most popular subcompact 9mm on the market is called a clue.

It's the cheapest
Granted if you go for an apex kit and magguts followers you are approaching Sig P938 territory

Alright niggers, let's settle this.

Sig P938 - 8.5/10
>Extremely small footprint and well made gun, has a nice trigger, but requires the user to keep it lubed with thick grease or the gun will beat itself up. It also has minor (though irritating) design flaws like a 2-piece guide rod that could spontaneously fly out of the gun while shooting. Kicks like a mule while shooting.

Shield - 8/10
>A little too big of a footprint for my taste, is fairly top heavy, the grips are a little slick and has an average trigger, but is nevertheless a very handy size, has a great track record and great magazine capacity.

Walther PPSM2 - 8/10
>Large footprint like the Shield, but good otherwise. Only real negatives are that it's a little top heavy, the grip is a little slick, and you'll be disappointed that the trigger isn't as good as the PPQ. Only practical difference between this and the Shield is user preference.

Glock 43 - 7.5/10
>Great size that "just works," but the trigger is, like many Glocks, somewhat like firing a staple gun, and the 6 round magazine with no factory 7 rounders is disappointing.

Ruger LC9s(Pro) - 6.5/10
>A nice compact size, just a little larger than the P938. The trigger is almost as nice as they say, but not perfect. Could possibly have minor issues OOTB typical of Rugers that will require a call to the manufacturer to fix. Great price, but I consider the gun untested. Would own as a beater.

Walther PPSM1 - 6/10
>Pretty good overall, but not perfect. Only real option if you want a paddle mag release. I like the grip texture better than the M2, but I really don't like the removable backstrap/lock feature.

XDs 9mm - 4/10
>Wide pistol with a fairly large footprint (originally designed for .45, then re-chambered down to 9mm), has a fairly crappy trigger and OK ergonomics. The absolute last single stack 9mm I would consider owning due to being almost as large as a Glock 26.

XDs - 0.9 x 4.4 x 6.3, 23oz
Shield - 0.95 x 4.6 x 6.1, 19oz
Glock 43 - 1.02 x 4.25 x 6.2, 17.95oz
P938 - 1.1 x 3.9 x 5.9, 16oz
PPS - 1 x 4.4 x 6.3, 21.5oz

Either that's wrong, or the guns are being measured from different points (i.e., extended slide catch that sticks out a few mm). All you need to do is look at an XDs.

XDs is Springfield Specs
Shield is wikipedia because S&W doesn't list the width

The main difference is that S&W rounded the grip, while springfield kept the grip the same width as the rest of the frame

The PPS is the worst thing Walther makes.
>>
>>32567590
Then you are probably looking at an XD subcompact instead of the XDS
>>
>>32567661

Worst thing that Walther makes is their rimfire
Second worst is ccp
>>
>>32567590
Then you're clinically retarded
>>
>>32567665
No. How can you look at >>32567648 and think that the XDs is thinner than either the Shield or the P938 in that picture? You must be blind. I can tell you that the P938, at least, is being measured from the tips of the ambi safety to get the 1.1" width. I don't own a precise calipers, but if I look at mine with a regular measuring tape, the slide is 13/16" and the grip is a little over 7/8" wide. NOT 1.1" wide.

>>32567691
Is that what people tell you about yourself?
>>
>>32567690
that ccp feels so good in the hand though :(. it's really too bad it has all of those problems
>>
>>32567732

Carry is by the widest point, making the grip narrower than the slide has no benefit unless you have really tiny hands
>>
>>32567757
Umarex tried being HK on the cheap
>>
>>32567797
Want me to tell you how I know you don't carry?

Thin slide = less displacement of pant volume inside your belt, more comfortable.
Thin grip = less imprinting of the gun's outline on your close, more concealable.
Extended ambi safety = doesn't factor into comfort or concealment.

You're wrong. Just shut up.
>>
>>32567139
you forgot the Beretta Nano my friend
>>
>>32567139
the P938's guide rod is solid and it does not kick like a mule at all, especially if you have the 7rd mag with grip extension. it's pleasant to shoot due the primarily metal construction

it does have a much worse design flaw which is the mainspring housing. said housing is polymer and is chafed by the mainsping until it shears away the detent holding it in and you have a dead trigger.

you can buy aftermarket metal mainspring housings, get a newer manufacturer P938, or send it in for a swap

check yours if you haven't already, it's easy to find info on.

only reason i wouldn't recommend it 100%
>>
>>32567690
This guy gets it. Unless the other guy doesn't consider the Umarex guns to be Walthers. In which case the PPS is the worst gun Walther makes, but more due to the PPQ and P99 being the best full sized striker fired guns on the market than the PPS being bad.
>>
>>32567974
>the P938's guide rod is solid
No, it is not, and this is a well documented issue.
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/07/shootingthebull410/sig-sauer-p938-ejecting-guide-rod/
>and it does not kick like a mule at all, especially if you have the 7rd mag with grip extension. it's pleasant to shoot due the primarily metal construction
You can say that a hundred more times or until you're red in the face. Won't make it true.

>it does have a much worse design flaw which is the mainspring housing. said housing is polymer and is chafed by the mainsping until it shears away the detent holding it in and you have a dead trigger.
This has been fixed since October 2015 and you can buy updated parts from both Sig (about $10 if you want to do it yourself) and Hogue (if you want to overpay). Sig was at least briefly offering to pay shipping if you want to send your gun in to have the parts updated for free.

I have the gen 1 and love it.
370 is a decent price but not like "omg"

the PPS is a good gun though.

shields and PPS's can be had for under 350, it's a matter of opinion at that point. I like the trigger of my PPS over the shield, but the shield was more comfortable. the PPS M2 probably resolves that "comfort" thing though
>>
>>32567826
I pocket carry my XDs in a vedder pocket locker
The point i was trying to make was that while the shield's grip is more narrow, the slide is still about the same size as the xds
Where the shield becomes less concealable however is that it's height is larger causing the grip to stick out more
