Those are meant to preserve the relative frequency levels across the normal hearing range. I've used them for concerts, I doubt they are a good choice for recreational shooting.

For those of us shooting on horseback, there IS a such thing as ear pro for horses. At least stuff some cotton wadding in there so your horsebro won't go deaf.

There is also ear protection for dogs.
