What's the fundamental difference between spies and covert operatives?
>>32546344
theres lots of overlap but assuming there is a difference, im guessing objectives and purpose? spies are about intelligence gathering while operatives are about actions.
just a guess though, i have no fucking clue
>>32546344
Spies fuck their way to information
Operatives get fucked on their way to information

I joined the Army. Got rushed up the pipe tube. Got an option 40. I said fuck that. Went straight to Navy seals but that shit was gay. Transferred to the Marines. I got dropped in boot camp. Then a coloneral came and told me it was all a ruse, I became a secret spy.
>tfw not a shadow recruit like me

Or they buy it. That's how it was for me anyways.
>>32546426
Don't suppose you know that Navy Seals and Delta force also travels with stacks of greenbacks for that very reason

This. Spies are about intelligence gathering, espionage, etc.
A "covert operative", if that's the term we're using, is more about direct action, sabotage, assassinations, etc.
How does one become a private intelligence operative/analyst?
Good at climbing shit and went to a good school.
It depends on who's side they are on.
>spies
Only that pesky enemy has spies
>covert operatives
Are our heroic guys
I have an m44 nagant without a bayonet but I'd like a bayonet. Is the best option just to buy a whole new gun with a bayonet? I can't find any m44 bayonets for sale.

Private idk but as far as the government services are concerned, usually they are the ones that will make you the offer.
>>32546344
spies gather intelligence
covert operatives operate covertly
>>32547428
Military you typically have to have a collection of different skills and qualities. Say if you do intelligence work one term, and then say go and do SEAL's the next, then you might have a good chance at landing a job like that.

I would be remiss if I did not mention fucking Qui-Gon Jinn here is a massive gun-grabber, piece of shit, and a faggot.
To answer OP, I would assume the mission is the main difference while many of the tactics will still be similar.
one gets to do the james bond stuff
the other get's to be his errand boy
>>32547428
I'm an Army Intelligence Analyst and will probably move into corporate intelligence afterwards.

>liam neeson
fuck that anti-gun PoS

One must learn to separate the man from his art. He made a great Jedi Master and a deadly CIA hit-man-turned-worried-dad and can do more acting with his eyes than most actors can do with their entire faces. I'm willing to cut him a certain amount of slack.
Lt. Sulu, on the other hand, can go fuck himself.
>>32546344
Liam Nieeson Hates Guns and does not think we should own them.
>>32546344
Spies are mostly women and chinese. They leak intelligence.
Covert operatives get shit done like planting bombs or extracting spies when shit goes south.
>>32550665
>implying women and chinese are two different things
>>32546344
vagueness
