The piece of shit was designed to operate with ammo that was too hard to source. Then the US government decided to source old ammo that made the special snowflake riffle cycle too fast. The M16 was a failed platform to begin with that was rushed to a war we had no business engaging with because of "muh commies are spreading everywhere".

Vietnam was a fucking mistake that the military industrial complex (that Eisenhower warned us about (and he despised Nixon)) caused. We sacrificed 10s of thousands of good service members in that fight. But yeah, it's the Marines fault that the M16A2 is a POS. Fuck off back to your arm chair.

A1 fixed pretty much all of your meme complaints. Your rant about the Vietnam war is off topic to the design of the rifle itself. The A2 was designed by the Marines who fucked it up with stupid backwards logic.

There's a really good old Arfcom thread where the guy who developed the A2 actually explains most of the changes and why they did or didn't work out.

The sights have some cool design ideas but nobody's trained to use them properly, for example.

The reinforcement to the front take down holes and the buffer tube support thing (seriously, what's that called) were kind of nice, though probably of marginal benefit in the grand scheme of things.

Better handguards.

Longer stock (bad for manlets)
Barrel profile could have been better.
But their original heavy barrel wouldn't allow a gernade launcher to be mounted.
Still stronger than the A1

Bad:
The Burst was hated by everyone
