About to buy this Mosin tomorrow, thoughts? I don't know much about Mosins so advice would be appreciated.
It's a 91/30 from 1943 with matching numbers on the bolt, barrel, and magazine plate. He's selling it with bayonet, ammo pouches, and 140 rds of 7.62x54R for $225, and condition is "good". Good deal, bad deal?

It's a fair deal. If you like milsurp it'll be an ok rifle at least.

Good luck anon. Everyone should own a nugget.
ammo is what 70c a round at least? great deal.

Bore condition? Looks like he has some corrosive surplus ammo. If your friend hasn't been cleaning that nugget the bore is likely fucked. If bore is OK then yeah its a good deal. The days of $100 nuggets are gone. $250 seems to be starting price nowadays.
OP here again. Looking closer at the image in this post...

Does it look like something weird is going on with the wood behind the second barrel band, near the middle of the gun? It looks like it's separating or something, but maybe I'm wrong...
It is a better deal than I got on mine.
Check the bore to see if he cleaned it right.
91/31 Nuggets cost more like $200 these days and m44 nuggets cost even more.

No, that's how it should look. It's sort of a "stop" for that barrel band.

Actually disregard, the upper handguard is forward for some fucking reason.

Like I said, I don't really know much about Mosins. Is it just partially disassembled, and can be pushed back together? Or is the wood damaged somehow?

It should just be able to slide back into place, same with the rear barrel band. He MAY have mixed up which one is which, or maybe the spring for the rear band is stuck.
Fair deal, just give it a good finger fucking before buying it. Check the bore for pitting, worn rifling or if the barrel has been crowned, work the bolt a few times, check the fireing pin and try the trigger. Then enjoy your "new" nugget.

I hope this helps OP.
