no reason not to. But that's alot of rifle for 300 meters. I guess if you are scored on closeness to the bullseye you might as well get the best you can. I recommend 6.5 creedmore if you can pick calibre for the competition, but the .308 is also good.

RPR is a good gun and buying it sneaks AR parts into Europe which I'm sure make the some people at the EU very annoyed, so I'm all for it.

Is there any unprotected restrictions on semis/"military" arms? Or is it fairly open in that regard? And on the same note, is there a gear culture over there or is it plain stock guns as far as the eye can see?

Yeah in competitions you can only use swiss conscription guns afaik but in training noone really cares what you shoot as long as the caliber isnt too big(targets have bullet catchers that cant hold a .50 for example). Same in the pistol category.

You can keep the rifle you get in the military(sig 550) for about 100$ but they remove the full auto option. You mainly see this gun and the k31 rarely someone has anything else here.

Swissbro, I have one in .308 and it's a damn fine gun outta the box. I have shot out to 700 yards with mine. I like my Tikka CTR slightly better though.
