Here are the specifics.

- Person is a 20-25 white male
- History of depression and bipolar disorder
- Was medicated, but is now deemed to not need it
- Has a history of self harm and aggression, but hasn't done a violent act in over 5 years
- Hasn't self harmed in over 3 years
- The gun would be stored in a locked case, key would be given to a third party
- Ammo would not be present until a hunting trip was undertaken
- Would likely be a bolt action long rifle. Either a 30-6 or something in the .22 caliber
- Knows and understands gun safety and maintenance

Would you trust that person?
>>
Absolutely

>- The gun would be stored in a locked case, key would be given to a third party
>- Ammo would not be present until a hunting trip was undertaken
With these stipulations, they could just borrow one to go hunting. No point in owning one.
>>
>>32531696
Would the hunting trip be taken alone?
>>
>>32531716
It'll primarily be a hunting rifle. Not for home defense in any way. (It's Canada)
And if it was taken to the range, he would just pick up ammo there.
>>
>>32531729
Like I said, no point in owning one under those stipulations. Just borrow one.
>>
>>32531727
Possibly alone, but not likely. There's someone he wants to go with (a coworkers husband, military veteran) but he may go alone at some point.

>Was medicated, but is now deemed to not need it
Who Deemed it not necessary? Anon or Medical Staff.
>hasn't done a violent act in over 5 years
Good for you Anon.
>- The gun would be stored in a locked case, key would be given to a third party
>- Ammo would not be present until a hunting trip was undertaken
WHY keep this rifle in said location if you can't see/access it?

>- Knows and understands gun safety and maintenance
Again Good for you Anon!. Hope things are going well.
>>
No. Person obviously doesn't trust themself with a gun, the fuck?
>>
>>32531696
What the fuck are you hunting that you can just switch from a 30-6 to a .22?

And legally that person can. So use your gut feeling.
>>
SHALL
>>
>>32531740
He was thinking more of a locked display case. Something you can't bash in with a hammer, but can still see it. It's not going to be a closet stuffer, it's not a glock.
And yes, his doctor weaned him off medication 4 years ago.
>>
>>32531756
GTFO
Applied mental state very important here..
>>
>>32531755
Well with a lower caliber it would obviously be small game. But in the area moose and caribou are fairly common hunts, as well as black bear.
IDK why he picked those two calibers.
>>
Under these conditions, this person would practically not own the gun
It's like something you would do with a child; letting them use your shit and telling them it's theirs to make them feel better
You obviously don't see them fit to own a gun. I would be pretty insulted if i were a grown man treated like this
>>
>>32531797
And if it's his choice to implement these safeguards? What's your opinion then?
>>
>>32531696
I really wouldn't care, if he stepped out of line somebody would just put him in his place anyways.
>>
>>32531756
NOT
>>
>>32531811
Then he doesn't trust himself with a gun, so why should I?
>>
>>32531696
depends, if I was close to him and knew him I might trust him not to kill me
>>
>>32531811
then i would say he doesn't trust himself to own a gun.
they are tools and the only thing scary about them is the person holding them. A man scared of a gun in his own hands shouldn't have one
>>
>>32531811
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGE
RIGHT OF THE CITEZENS TO KEEP AND BARE ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.
Where in canada can i get a muzzle loader antiqe without a PAL.

Well as long as it wasn't AMA that's a little better.

>Someone else has they Key
I know how much a visual Aid can help in the goal setting/Goal Achievement so this could work in multiple fashions.
I would advise some type of fail safe mechanism just to keep the firearm from actually being used like removing the Bolt or Firing Pin but I could say yes to that knowing everything else listed here.
>>
>>32531834
I wouldn't know. I know almost nothing about firearms, where to find them, or pretty much anything outside of "point that way, squeeze trigger".

OK. Have you hunted before? You know general rule of thumb when it comes to medium and larger game usually requires a permit.

Make sure it's legal and you're only hunting the right thing with the right caliber.
>>
This person is probably fine to own a gun without any of this shit honestly.
>>
>>32531696
I would. I'd keep a close watch on the guy if I were ever around him, and I'd try to be aware that he might need to be put down like a rabid dog, but I think that about almost everybody.
>>
>>32531869

That's what Chris Kyle was doing
>>

It's either this or the person is fit to own a gun. not both

>>
>>32531696
>wife is 2 axis bi-polar
>multiple behavioral health unit lockups due to self harm from pills and for real arm slashing (not cries for help, she really put the pedal to the metal)
>loves to plink w/ her Red Ryder, but is terrified of real guns - I can leave them out with zero fucks given

depends on the individual
