Im interested in building a 308ar, I chosen DPMS pattern as it is more common but other than that have no idea where to start. Has anyone on here built one?

I was building an AR resembling an hk416 and asked ARG for some advice on parts. By doing so I started a shitstorm debate between direct impingement vs piston and got no useful advice whatsoever. ARG threads are for dickless autists
If I have a FN-15, can I swap out the upper assembly for a PSA 308 upper assembly?

You wouldn't be able to fit .308 magazines into your 5.56 magwell
AR-10s also do not follow the M4/M16 milspec
Colt did make a rifle that could take AR-15 uppers into a .308 lower that had an adapter for the magwell

I have one, whatcha thinkin about?

I didnt think so.
Thanks.
I built a .308 using a Mega Arms upper lower combo. It's based on the DPMS/LR.308 pattern. On a .308 that pattern is different than the AR in .308 pattern, that's just if you weren't aware. They are fun to shoot but blowing through $34 in 5 seconds gets expensive

Nice rifle.
OP, I would recommend the MA upper/lower combo even though I have no personal experience with it. It's just not that much more expensive than DPMS.
Mega is good stuff
Dpms uppers are heavy and the FA is weak
Aero i have has takedown pin holes that need opened up

Scrapped mine together from parts on sale. Barrel and BCG from AIM. Stripped upper, LPK from CDNN. Other parts from other places when found cheap.
While it's not the best, I'm mostly happy with it. A2 stock is too long for a manlet, if it wasn't obvious, but thats the only complaint I really have. No issues outside initial teething. After about 60-80 rounds, no problems.
>tfw no cheap .308 surplus
