Because it suggests more of a challenge, aligning the triad of rear sight, front sight, and target to connect the shot.

Take a good look at the feed ramp to see if it's been re-contoured. If it has you'll want to make sure they didn't remove too much material from behind the lower locking lug.

No
>>
>>32529518
Yes. Using the sling as a shooting aid is a bad habit.
>>
>>32529518
Why? You honestly don't think it's going to bend it, do you?

When the sling is negatively affecting the accuracy of the gun, yes. Using that sling while it's attached like that will bend the barrel slightly and change the point of impact

this is decently priced where Im looking. They say its a standard sling for smles and this one was airforce colored.

Off topic but what do you recommend for my mossberg 500 in terms of slings?
>>
>>32528894
sooooo its like a palma rifle you hang on the wall?
>>
>>32532645
Not the guy you're replying to, but please do explain? Slings are there if you want them, but my personal experience is youd have to have a special one, on account that you dont want to have fiddle the length of it to use it as a brace. The durr could be gone at that point.
>>
how are the old Swede FN98 and strengthened M96 actions?

Simpson Ltd has a bunch of them for pretty cheap and I kinda want a project gun to turn into a Bavarian sporter carbine with a full length stock
>>
Deciding between an Enfield, Masuer G98, or Nugget. I'm discouraged because Nuggets are suffering the gun world's equiv of the ricer tax. G98 seems nice. Are Enfields common fare at gun shows chambered in 7.62?
>>
>>32532661
The blancoed ones are okay. Youll need 1-1/4 or 1-1/2? Swivels. Theyre wider than your typical slings. They feel alright, sort of waxy/chalky at the same time.
>>
>>32532701
Maybe the more rare later modelled ones converted to 7.62x51 for sniper duty, but not very often.
>>
>>32532701
look for an Ishapore Enfield 2A1
they made them in 7.62x51
reasonably common and not that expensive

Got an older Marlin 336. Don't know exactly how old it is. Something like 50~ years or so. Thing is dead accurate. Was my dad's brothers, he traded his brother a .22 rifle for it or some shit. Idk sounded like a shitty trade for his brother. My brother and I inherited it. Fun to shoot except it is a $1 a round. I took it apart a few years ago and cleaned it up real good, the action is real smooth.

My Great Grandfather's Remington 760 Gamemaster made in 1953(second year of production).

>>32532683
wat? ive never had to fiddle with a sling when using it as brace. Also no ones going to try and wrap themselves in a sling as a reflex but when you dont have anything to balance the scope on and you have a time then yes you should use a sling. It wont hinder you unless you are some sort of retard who can only do one thing.

although having a sling attached to the barrel isnt the best idea. I know that isnt OEM so bubba most have gotten to it. it would be better to put sling mounts in the stock. which someone obviously did then decided to forgo the second one.

I just love the looks of this gun, hope I can own it one day
>>
>>32532736
Thats a nice rifle, my grandads got a 742 woodsmaster that he brought in the early 60s that im hoping to get some day.

I always shoot offhand, the bush here is dense asf, dangling slings can be a hinderance, and not many shots are made over about 75 yards.

same here its very dense in south carolina. I walk miles at a time so it only makes sense for me to have a sling. I need to get one for my 1100 because my arm was aching from carrying it all day.

>>
>>32533015
Holding out for now. Theres talk of them classifying all centrefire semi autos as "e catagory" which means theyll be lumped in with ar15s nhm90s etc (military style semi automatics with pistol grips, bayonet lugs, and magazines exceeding 7 rnds) so youd need the uprated safe and endorsement to have grandads 742 or say, an old 7rnd sks. Dont know about shotties though? You can own ones with pistol grips and shit on a standard licence. Also theres talk of banning particular calibres like 50bmg etc. Basically the start of a possibly very big wedge. If it goes badly we'll end up just as cucked as our neighbours when it comes to guns
>>
>>32533079
fight that shit
>>
>>32533157
Haha yeap. We're keeping proactive. Its hard though when all media is very biased. Most journalism here is from people from university, most people from university have hobestly assimilated that whole tumblr, american liberal, anti guns thing that you guys have got going over there. Honestly alot of my friends who attend university shat the bed because of trump being the president elect, which was weird because we're in an entirely different hemisphere, and economy wise we're buddy buds with the (some would say) evil chinese folk anyways. Its just a weird assimilation from them, that is really doing the country not much good.

I've got one of these but with a slightly nicer stock and a cheaper more classic looking sight.
Sadly all the photos I have of my rifle suck.

It's a Husqvarna/ Carl Gustaf model 1900 Lyx.

They stopped making them in the 70s but on the used market here they still cost more than a lot of brand new rifles.
They're really fucking nice rifles. Very accurate, and they have the smoothest rifle action I've ever felt.
Because of the smooth action they're more or less as fast to shoot as straight pull rifles.
