Why do they issue soldiers Gasmasks? if you get shot in the head then there will be a hole in it and all the poison gas will get in and kill you.

Why do they issue soldiers body armor? If you get shot in it there will be a hole and all the bullets will get in and kill you
Has anyone in the history of the army ever passed rifle quals while wearing full NBC gear?
>>32520064
recently its been easy as fuck to get bites. try to resist a little guys.
>>32520034
because msa makes some dank masks
>>32520034
is it possible to get a gas mask like that, if so where? i was looking to add one to my equipment list
>>32520064
Anybody else notice this guy actually has a fairly large bulge?

body armor stops bullets though, gas masks do not.
Parents got me an old Russian gp-5 for christmas because they know im into that stuff (old militaria, not bdsm).
Are those filters even safe to use?
Also, I assume that as soon as you break the seal on the filter, it starts expiring right then, right? Capping it back wont help?
I've yet to use it, but it would certainly make my STALKER outfit more dank.

inb4 asbestos
>>32520114
I had to do a shoot in just the mask once. I couldnt see shit and had to contort the mask to a point that probably broke the seal just to see through the scope
>>32520437
Not even the asbestos, that I'm worried about, I know usually only the bottom layer contains a wimpy 7% asbestos that is nearly impossible to inhale unless the filter is damaged.
It's the other scary shit that they put in them that I'm worried about. Various heavy metals and other chemicals deemed "safe" at the time that today arent considered safe.
Probably should just get a new-production 40mm filter if I plan on actually using it, right?
>>32520476
uhhh yeah you should get a new filter. Why the fuck would you even want to be breathing in asbestos and heavy metals at all? A new filter can't be that expensive anyway.
someone forgot to issue you a working brain
>>32520141
this. God at least try.

>I couldnt see shit
iktfb, my head wasn't even on the stock just to see the optic.
>>32520197
wow, gas masks are cheap as fuck
>>32520034
I figured no one was dumb enough to respond to bait as obvious as this, but apparently...
>>32520506
>>32520476
I got a commercial P3 particulate filter on my polish mask. It doesn't really look the part but I have actually used it before.
>friend has an old shit van
>needs cleaning out
>has leak in roof so mold has grown everywhere
>literally everywhere, even on non-organic surfaces
>surprised there's not fucking mushrooms popping up
>smell is too bad to even get in the door
>run upstairs and grab mask
>its actually no problem to go in now and take all the shit out
>old polish mask helped keep my lungs mushroom free
>>32520343
Think they use active charcoal which breaks down after expiring. Safest bet would be to get a new filter.

Welcome to /k/....
>>32520146
nah MSA a shit, the weird bulbous visor looks cool but actually induces a lot of visual distortion
the FM53 is the gold standard of combat gas masks
>>32520343
If you want a functional, get yourself a 3m one. I wouldnt trust old russian filters.

Actually, gas masks these days are quite bullet resistant. If the bullet manages to penetrate, it won't have enough velocity to exit through the head, so it'll just end up bouncing around in the space between the mask and your face.
>>32520034
Well it sounds like you thought of everything. I'm not needed here.
