Is this the angle ?
In with ARG's #4 sexiest rifle
>>32508473 #
Well, I've got a hard on for USPs, so that mostly fuels my decision to trade towards it. I've also got someone that wants to outright buy my AR, so I may look into that.
>>32508444 #
You're not wrong about the memery of the pistol, but pretty much any full size 45 is a meme at this point.
>>32508497 #
Et maintenant?
>>32508529
Well a USP will at least hold its value
I don't think I could justify one over an FNX now though aside from H&K memes
>>32508547
dont you have a 1911? why another 45? r u a fudd?
>>32508547
USP is god
SPR soon
>>32508556
Well, I'm from Tennessee, so...
But really, I just really like USPs, and 45 is fun to shoot. I'd also like to eventually get a can for it.
>>32508558
Correct.
>>32508552
The only thing that makes me want an FNX over a USP is the ability to mount an RMR type sight. Although, I've considered selling my M&P and getting a CORE to do just that.
>>32508523
>>32508600
FNX also has the benefit of factory suppressor height sights with tritium, IIRC the USP only comes with paint on theirs and an extra 3 rounds in the mag
>>32508523
>>32508613
>BAD lever
Any good? Do you use it for both releasing and catching?
>>32508613

Alright guys, I want to replace the handguard on my M&P15 Sport II. Talked to a guy who offered to do it for me since I have no tools or anything, and he explained the process and everything. I just cut off the front post sight above the gas tube so I could mount a scope.
He should be able to just fit this free float handguard over the sight post right? Nothing fancy needs to happen as far as the gas system goes? Double checking before I buy the handguard and send it his way.

>>32508665
oh boy you fucked up
>>32508665
>>32508665
The FSB needs to be shaved down way more than that for a rail to fit over it.
>>32508665
Oh jesus christ
>>32508665
hot damn
>>32508644
Mostly catching for me, releasing if I'm shooting prone.
>>32508632
How's the trigger on the FNX? The tactical USPs come with the match grade. The suppressor height sights are adjustable, which isn't a huge selling point for me, but I can always change them if I dont like them. IIRC there are HK made 24 round extendo clips available.
>>32508700
okay that's easy enough for me to do before I get it to him. I just cut it off enough for a scope and figured I'd have to do it some more later
>>32508700
>those grind / tool marks
>that bent plate
>>32508717
you realize you can have the FSB and a scope, right?
>>32508727
didn't want the FSB in the first place but I got the gun at a great price
>>32508508
>>32508523
Liek dis?
>>32508677
>>32508705
>>32508710
>>32508719
Not concerned with how unattractive the gun is with the cut down FSB as long as it's functional currently, especially when it'll be covered up by a handguard anyways
>>32508748
that handguard is fucking gay
>>32508523
>>32508713
I like, smooth in SA and DA, break is clean, there seems to be a mm of this strange slack in between the reset and where the trigger actually "catches" when you start pulling it back again, but you wouldn't notice it unless you were trying to shoot groups at 100 yards
Only thing that threw me off, and still partially does, is the actual trigger is made of polymer, and I'm used to metal ones
>tl;dr pretty good, one step under my bulgy matchgrade fa pack :^

>>32508665
Oh dear...
>>32508645
>acquire glock 19
Not right now. Although the 19 MOS looks cool. I've got too many M&P mags, parts, and holsters to switch over.
>>32508758
Yeah, the USP has a poly trigger too. I'm not sure if that's the case for the match triggers , though, they may be metal since they have the over travel stops. I've got a 40, and the DA is heavy, but smooth and predictable. The standard SA is short, light, and breaks pretty close to the reset. The total travel of the SA is very short compared to the DA, which I like. I've shot the USP40 out to 50 yards at steel and bottles pretty easily with the stock trigger and mostly burnt out tritium sights.
I really like both the FNX and USP I'm concept and handling, but I've only ever shot the USP. I'll probably wind up with an FNX Tactical eventually anyways just to have both.

>>32508835

I've handled both but only shot the FNX, Giddy might be able to tell you better, I'm not sure if he's shot a USP though

>>32508869

Also, I found these neat lasers for the USP's accessory rail.
>>32508873
Yeah, I think both are great. There just aren't a lot of USPs, let alone tacticals, that pass my area, so I figured I'd jump on this one since it's priced decently. I'm either gonna trade straight for >>32508547 or sell it at work to some one for $900 sans scope or around $1250-1300 with the scope, then just buy the USP and finish my 14.5".

if the upper is cerakoted then it will look p nice with a black optic. but if not cerakoted imo the optic should be tan or at least have a tan cover on it.

Haven't seen anything on other forums either, just the one youtube guy.
why do anderson upper receivers have such shitty feed ramps? They are basically non-existent. I've had no issues with their lowers but holy fuck am i disappointed with my upper. any suggestions for an easy/cheap fix? dremel?
>>32510224
I might get one then
I've got a bunch of charging handles sitting around
>>32510239
doesn't hurt to try
nice glawk, im getting a 19 soon.
>>32510211
Problem is a meme and requires you to use it wrong. G is best ch
>>32510256
Did you ever decide on what gen?
I just got this one today and the rtf2 frame feels like sex
I'd highly recommend a Vickers edition if you can find one for a decent price
>>32510225
The feed ramps are part of the barrel, not the receiver, and they're probably not the problem. Your bolt carrier is probably just insufficiently lubricated.
>>32510287
that depends
>>32510286
gen3. i doubt anyone local has the vickers version, I'm fine with the basic model for now.
>>32510309
You could always have someone pick it up from your FFL
>>32510301
In those pictures, the dark metal is the receiver and the lighter metal is the barrel extension with the feed ramps on it. The feed ramps are never part of the receiver.
>>32510329
I don't want to wait anymore than I have to desu
>>32510344
I feel you
>>32510329
What does the vickers add? I saw a guy around here selling one for like 630 with some trijicons
>>32510362
some Wilson Combat type sights (different front sight options), Vickers slide catch, mag release, and butt-plug with disassembly tool.
The frames are the RTF2 frame, which is basically a more aggressive version of gen4's which feel awesome
>>32510336
the receiver cuts are literally called m4 feed ramps
>>32510398
only think I can see even using there is the frame
I don't use slide catches or releases enough
how much is just the RTF2 frame?
>>32510398
It also has the 4.5 lb comp connector in it
>>32510424
how good is it?
speaking of triggers, whats the best glock trigger in your opinions?
>>32510224
>some youtubefag was pulling it straight up and it wouldn't pull out.
he showed it binding if you added any twist
>>32510287
i meant the part of the receiver where the barrel feed ramps meet the receiver, figured it was all called the feed ramp. compared to my other 3 uppers this receiver's are noticeably smaller, looks like the top right in >>32510301 but maybe 1/2 the size. i guess they probably arent the main problem causing failures to feed and many other issues. I ive tried more lube, didnt seem to help much, but i havent put more than 150 rounds through it yet, because it's frustrating having to manually pull the bcg back or use the forward assist 1/2 of the time. have tried many different mags, no improvement. i guess ill lube the fuck out of it next time and hopefully it just needs broken in more or something and not a gas block/tube/bore issue or such. will go to the range tomorrow and try some stuff.
>>32510424
I didn't know that.
I forgot to mention the magazine base plates as well.
>>32510437
>how good is it?
my particular one is pretty smooth and predictable.
>>32510411
Here's a 19 frame
http://www.gunbroker.com/item/610643853
It would probably just be best to buy the whole gun if you like the sights it has.
Factory Glock sights are just placeholders anyway.
I think you'd like the slide lock and magazine release. They're very non intrusive and and only slightly larger than stock, but make it nicer to lock the slide open and release the magazine.
They're cheap anyway, so you're not saving a bunch.
>>32510464
sure
>>32510468
post ur ar
also, what mags are u using?
>>32510494
sadly cant post pics atm. assorted 30rd gen 2&3 Pmags, several different usgi metal ones. mags are all in good conditions and havent had any mag issues with my other 3 ARs. i'll update and post pics tomorrow after range time. ive only shot mostly tula/wolf/brown bear ammo, will also try some better brass case stuff.
I'm having a hard time finding a completed 18" upper.
What are the pros and cons of 16"/18" barrels?
I don't want an A2 style barrel.
>>32510542
18">16"
>>32510552
That's what I heard, but I kinda wantez specifics.
>>32510559
don't listen to anything gc says. he's a complete retard and doesn't know shit about ars.
you can kys for your reddit tier spelling.
>>32510542
I like my 16 fine
feels like a 22 when I shoot it too
Is 6.5 a meme caliber? I've been looking at finally building an AR piecemeal for various reasons now that I'm gainfully employed again and I like the idea of 6.5 for a number of reasons, mostly because I live somewhere with tons of wide-open spaces should a Red Dawn scenario arise but also because it uses an AR-15 lower and consequentially I can swap in cheaper uppers for plinking.
>>32510542
>18
Longer, less wieldy, heavier, higher velocity
>16
shorter, more compact and wieldy, lighter, lower velocity
>>32510570
while true that he is retarded, he's right that 18 > 16.
>>32510477
agreed with most of this post. I really do prefer the RTF2 frame and the extended slide / mag release are nice.
>>32510552
I concur with this, 18" or 20".
If you want a short AR, you might as well make a ~11" pistol.
>>32510586
if you get memes, you pay meme prices
It's not worth the ballistic superiority because of $
If you have money, just get a nice 308 ar-10 or a scar

cool some literally who had a problem no one else seems to have.
>>32510639
For some reason I despise this guy and his video
>>32510673
So if he was a big time youtuber you would believe him, interesting.
>>32510603
>If you have money, just get a nice 308 ar-10 or a scar
But then I can't swap uppers with .22LR or .223, which is one of the reasons I'm looking at 6.5. The prices for steel-cased 6.5 are also pretty decent.
>>32510692
No I would not. If it was a wide spread issue or happened to me I would believe it.
>>32510686
It because he looks and talks like Tai Lopez hate-fucked a very cheap Vietnamese prostitute?

From checking out his videos after they were posted, he has owned that AR for 15-20 years.
>>32508665
Ohhh...no
>>32509385

Eww no
>>32510699
why pay for a conversion kit when you can just buy a 10/22 for like 160 bucks?
>>32510542
do u have any more specifics than just 18" w/o a2 sight? price range? brand? Hardened Arms http://www.hardenedarms.com/ has some. i have 1 of their 16" uppers and am pleased with it
>>32510814
Think about what you just said

>>32510839
It's almost like people want to train with there rifle they're already using
>>32510799
What's wrong with the Havoc Launcher?
>>32510821
I dont want a fixed front sight, I should've been more specific, I want a rail system/handguards that cover most of the barrel.
>>32510852
How is a .22 upper training for a 6.5 upper, the behavior and use are completely different.
>>32510783
I doubt he's been dressing like that for 15-20 years. He seems like a Chris Costa/Travis Haley wanna be with the dress and mannerisms.
>>32510799
Just my first impression off that one video.
>>32510863
>.22 upper training for a 6.5 upper
Oh I thought you were talking about conversion bolts for .223/556
>>32510854
I guess it's ok if you're doing a clone build and absolutely need something like it
>>32510872
Glancing through his youtube, his video's go back 9 years and you can see an evolution in his outfit towards tactical.
And he is a professional photographer.

I'm considering trading my ar + surefire light for a scar 17

probably not tBH
>>32511115
mod 2 keymod
>>32511120
yea I wouldn't
see if you can test it out first if you're still considering
>>32511141
Test that one? or shoot a scar in general?
I like them a lot, and I'm quite bored with my ar
I'd rather just shoot my 10/22 honestly, it feels about the same
>>32511141
I'm saying shoot the one you're going to trade for.
I'll let you shoot mine if you want to come to Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
>>32511165
why shoot it?
I've shot other scars before
>>32511169
if that's the case then do what you feel like
I'd just rather have an AR
especially a nice one like yours
>>32511186
why
>>32511192
They're just more handy to me
I guess the same reasons I like 9mm over 45
>>32511200
I like 9mm over 45 too
I just like the SCARs more than the ARs and I want something different but not shit if you know what I mean
I've owned a 6920 and an sr-15 and for what I do with it at this point, yes the sr-15 is way nicer, but what am I really getting out of it that an arsenal AK or cheaper ar won't do
>>32511223
I mean, you'll probably be happy with it if you get it.
If you're just bored and want something different, I understand
>>32509106
Are you still here Mk18?
I got that blackhawk sling you recommended yesterday. It'll be here by the 11th at the latest.
>>32511247
Have any regrets?
I know ammo is more expensive, but the closet range past 25 yards here is an hour a way, so I won't be shooting it super often, just on days off
>>32511277
I don't really have any regrets.
Maybe I wouldn't get the long rail if I had a stock scar again.
I'd probably just get some little keymod extensions from Parker mountain machine.
I'm thinking about sending the barrel to them and having it cut to 14.5" to mount a suppressor closer to the end of the rail without sbr'ing it and worrying about legalities in different states etc.
I might have gone with a different optic and mount or something.
I just need to spend more time using it and getting a feel for what I want from it.
It's very accurate for such a thin barrel by the way.
>>32511303
I'm aware of the accuracy, one of the reasons I'm buying it, it's not a 3 moa FAL
I hate keymod and mlok rails, and I'll prob keep it stock to save weight, even if it looks less cool
what optic are you running right now?
>>32511312
>keep it stock to save weight
my whole rail is only 3oz heavier than stock if you're wondering
I got a 7.62 VCOG for $1,600 and it's quite nice.
I might get another mount for it
The reticle is a little thick at 6x, but 1x is closer to 1x than the 3 other variable scopes I have.
It's kind of heavy, but I imagine it's really durable
>>32511324
That's true, does it balance out well?
unbalanced is just as bad as heavy imo, if not worse
Have you considered a swarovski 1-6? are they durable?
>>32511324
the vcogs reticle just turn me off
>>32511363
The balance doesn't feel too bad. I agree that balance is as important as weight
I'd imaging the swarovski is durable, but not as inherently durable as a VCOG.
I don't know what I'd get if I got another optic for it.
I like the miculek reticle in the vortex HD 1-6x
The price for a used one is nice plus you can use the same scope on a 5.56
>>32511385
I think I might do it if he still has it
I really enjoy my KAC but it's......... an ar-15, plus it's not operator.

I tried hard to like Glocks. Carried a 19 for a year or two. Just don't point well for me and the trigger is terribur.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking high powers though, classic guns.
whats the best shot timer around?
on my 5 seconds goolging i found the Pocket Pro Timer was the best, anyone can give any different opinions?
>>32511540
I find the glock to be just as accurate and easier to shoot consistently than any other gun
I like USPs, I had one, but I don't regret selling it because it didn't get used much, I just enjoy rifles so much more.
>>32511546
I use a pocket pro 2 but this is supposed to be really good
