However, 10mm guns are too thick and heavy for EDC. Even the Glock 29 is too thick, not comfy.

I have a 10mm Colt and love it; prefer to EDC 9mm.

Depends on what you're talking about. If you're saying "two more 9mm rounds to off a bear", it's not really going to work out - 9mm gets stuck in bear fat, or gets deflected by their bones. So now you have a bear that is still very much alive, but is very pissed.

It's definitely one of the worse calibers for any defensive situation. It will over-penetrate and possibly hit innocent people and the vast majority of the energy will not transfer into the enemy, cost a lot, slow follow up shots. it's all around a terrible caliber for defense against a human. 9mm, 357 mag, 40 s&w, and 45 acp are better in every way.

You can make it work, but for carry duties, there's nothing that the top 3 can't do. At that point you're just wasting money buying into a meme. 10mm makes more sense as an field cartridge when you're hunting, hiking, etc. because you can carry the full-power 10mm without worrying much about over-penetration. But again, in that case why not just buy a magnum revolver as a field gun?

That's the main problem with meme calibers: There's really not a whole lot of support for them. 10mm is like .357 Sig in that there isn't enough enough variety in choice compared to more common rounds. That said, Glock makes the only reasonably affordable 10mm handgun. If you're willing to spend a little more, there's a few 1911-style guns which I hear are decently reliable for the most part. Don''t want a Glock or 1911? Too bad. You're going to have to pony up the cash to play in the thousand-dollar handgun market. I cannot speak from personal experience, but they should be amazing considering the dosh your dropping for one those. The only ones that you should really stay away from are the EAA/Tangfolio guns especially the cheaper ones.

10mm guns are bigger and heavier than I'd want to EDC but if you're willing, carry light fast moving hollow points. You can get a full of inch of expansion. 10mm is great.
