Because (liek the last blimp thread mentioned) there is a tradeoff between guns and missiles. Guns can use less mass in a shot at the cost of using a much bigger launcher (ie the gun itself).

So guns are useful when mass is not a problem and you need lots of shots, while missiles are the choice when mass is a problem and you're not shooting that much.

IOW, if it's airborne and guided, guns are never the right choice.

If you absolutely must have numbers, use micro-bombs like the Hatchet or Pyros and exploit the altitude differential for launch power.
