Would I fuck up the integrity of the gun by using a dremel to make a rail? I want to mount a flashlight or laser but would hate to buy one of those stupid trigger frame mounted ones.
Pistol is a Taurus 709 Slim.

Go for it, not like you can make it any worse.
Would drilling all the way through or just notching out the grooves be better?
>>32475672
It was a cheap CC pistol on sale. Didn't expect much. Couldn't carry my full size glock at work. Too uncomfortable.
>>32475661
it's probably going to look retarded but like >>32475672 said it's a Taurus you cant really make it worse.
Depending on how thick the dustcover is, you might be better off roughing up the outside of the dustcover and building it up with epoxy. Then using the Dremel to cut a rail in the epoxy.

What do you mean by dust cover?
>>32475790
The front of the frame, where you're wanting to cut the rail. I couldn't really tell how thick the bottom part was.

It looks like it doesn't maintain the same thickness all the way through. But I would say that you'd be fine if you went slow and frequently checked the fit.
>>32475939
you'll probably be fine if you leave the front part intact.
it's going to look cosmetically fucked and you wont be able to sell it.

I'm going to go for it and see what happens. No need to sell, it was a $220 gun. I'll post results this weekend.
>>32475790
They call it a dust cover because all it does is house the recoil spring and protect it from dust.

Notched

That looks pretty thin.
How about just buying a short rail section and screwing or epoxying it to the dust cover?
Would be better to drill a hole and screw in a bit of railing, but the frame isn't designed for that and they can sag due to weight (see older glock rails) That looks to be a Taurus so I wouldn't shoot it much less make modifications to it.
