Since a lot of intelligence is experienced based as an officer in that field your job consists of managing the people who are doing the work

I'd go Navy instead, the intelligence community is tiny in the UK and largely tri-service so it wont make a huge difference. There is a very good chance you won't know what you are doing until you are training.

The majority of jobs are what you'd expect, gathering intel, interpreting it etc etc

They don't have a dedicated intelligence unit so everyone doing it is doing it as a secondary role so there's always the chance that your next post won't be intelligence at all.

And of course if you're posted to a ship it's where you live so no TV/long showers/high-class red haired freckled scottish escorts that don't charge extra for anal.

What he said. Being an intelligence officer may be a great job, but you're unlikely to be doing the frontline collection & analysis. Just be aware.

In terms of what service gives the most opportunities, I'd recommend the army - RAF intelligence kind of limits you to the world of aircraft, while the army's Intelligence Corps looks at a wider range of disciplines (including IMINT, so you can work with RAF assets anyway). That said the RAF treats its people better. Up to you.

Getting into the Intelligence Corps as an officer from Sandhurst is fairly challenging - being so small, they can afford to be picky. As a soldier it's easier to join and they're pretty desperate for people at the moment.

it's really not. Military intelligence is one of the huge assets that the UK has that always gets overlooked.

A disproportionate amount of DI staff are from the RN. And while there is no specific RN intelligence service other than HMS ferret (which is in reserve because it is not required). Many of the jobs at Admiralty are essentially military intelligence positions.
