Don't have an ENCLOSED self-propelled mortar system?
Your army is dildos. No arguments.

Nice but they should have bought German Puma to carry them around.

>Buying another superfluous and expensive platform when you already have an in service and good chassis in service
>>32470282
>ENCLOSED
Turret mortar that is loaded from OUTSIDE. Guy reaction sums it well.
What happened with AMOS?
>>32471251
Are you serious? wow that's embarrassing. Should not have pulled out of the AMOS project.
>>32471283
>Are you serious?
Yep. Mine is loaded on loading tray it rides outside then is loaded by mechanical device into mortar tube from outside. Then falls back into mortar tube by gravity.
The Israeli one works like this too.
>>32471274
I think Finland and Sweden bought a few each for their AMVs.
Finland then just went with a single barrel version called NEMO.
Sweden also have some boats armed with the AMOS mortars.
>>32470282
This system is from the 80s and for some reson we decide to buy it now. Well, at least its cost is about 1/3 of what the AMOS costs.
>>32471366
No we dont.
Sweden does not have any AMOS systems at all.
All we have is a few 84mm mortars and a bunch of 120mm Grk m/41.
Thats m/41 like in 1941.

>>32471366
I don't get it, wasn't AMOS Swedish? Why would you develop a system and then buy an American one?
>>32471472
This BAE system is also Swedish.
BAE now owns Bofors, wich is the Swedish company that developed this system.
AMOS was co-developed by Sweden and Finland, and we intended to buy 40 AMOS systems.
However budget cuts in 2009 slashed that (after the hulls was produced, we just waited for the turrets)
Now the Swedish Army has decided to take thos surplus hulls and integrate them with BAE Bofors mortar solution.
>>32471405
>Cost of CV90, $5.8M
>Cost of upgrade, $1.7M
>Cost of Finish AMOS $5.4 to $8.4M
>>32471501
So basically it's a budget solution?
>>32471501
This is what the Finns got, 8x8 Patrias with AMOS-systems.
>>32471508
The systems has ben cost-evaluated by the Swedish government.
And since we allredy have the CV90 hulls we only intend to buy turrets anyway. And to buy 40 AMOS turrets we would need to pay about 1 500 000 000 SEK. If we buy this system that would cost us around 580 000 000 SEK
>>32471518
Yes. The armed forces of Sweden (especially the Army and Navy) is hoplessly underfunded and they realized that they are not getting enough money to but AMOS systems anytime soon. So they decided to get something at least.
>>32471522
STRONK
>>32471472
BAE Systems is a British company.
This is being developed by the Swedish subsidiary. AMOS was originally fitted on the 8x8 AMV, but this was cancelled after budget cuts.
>>32471518
AMOS wasn't taken up for budgetary reasons. Combining the CV90 is a different program but allows mechanised units to have organic mortars.
>>32471522
Didn't they take up NEMO instead?
>>32471739
>Didn't they take up NEMO instead?
Not that I know of?
Finland orderd a few AMOS systems at least, Im not sure if they have NEMO systems too.
>>32471749
no NEMO afaik
>>32471522
That looks badass.
>>32471334
that's not a turret though

>>32470282
>Swedish Army
So... How are those massive cuts in funding?
>>32471749
No NEMO.
We have AMOS.
>>32470282
nice. self propelled mortar delivery system.
>too bad it will be worthless unless all the instrument panels are written in arabic

Your army is LITERALLY dildos.

how does something beig removed from schools equal removing something else completely from society
>>32472248
>dodgeball is banned
Are you for real?
>>32472354
"remove from one or school or maybe a district" doesn't push the narrative
>>32472361
in some school districts. We played avoidance ball. Totally not dodgeball guise
>>32472248
>mfw its the people that wants guns banned that banned those things
>LETS BAN EVERYTHING INSTEAD OF UNBANNING SILLY SHIT.
these fucking people.
>>32472361
I read about one case, where they banned football - kids would fall on the grass and simetimes got bruises.
So they replaced grass with asphalt.
Kids would get even more bruises.
So they made kids wear knee, elbow, wrist protectors and helmets.
Kids would still got bruises (fucking asphalt, man!)
So they banned football from school all together.
I can imagine same happening to dodgeball, plus some liberal narrative that it promotes violence etc.
Fucking communists.. when will we kill them all?
>>32471334
That's American though
:^)
>>32471749
No nemo in service atm. Though it has been such a hit in Arabland that Patria did this shipping container version of it that will be unveiled in Abu Dhabi arms show
>>32472461
But... Why?
>not breech loaded
>no digital FCS
>no MRSI or Direct fire capability
>1,5 million € a piece
Swedes just got fucked royally. And they wasted a cool name in the shitty system.
>>32472465
>>32472465
A finnish blog says that it has been designed to fulfill the needs of the Arab emirates navy.
Its cheaper than vehicle version and you can tow it with all kinds of equipment.
>>32472129
no he's not
>>32472488
Theres not much in public about the system yet. But most sources say that it has special loading doohicky that loads it from the outside.
>>32471405
>Sweden does not have any AMOS system at all.
>>32472491
Found a leaked photo of said system.
>>32472476
>>32472477
Huh, I guess that makes sense.
I get that mortars are cheaper than artillery
But why mortars on wheels instead of artillery?
>>32472521
Because mortars on wheels/treads are more mobile than artillery?
>>32472521
Because swedes have no close support for their infantry. Or any artillery at all right now. Remember that they gutted their army completely and focused the remains in international operations because its 2016 and landwars are in the past.
Can this latest turret fit to the M113?
>>32472580
Everytning fits M113 if you do your nightly prayers to Sprey.
>>32472465
Fill an entire cargo boat with them for offshore battery
>>32472466
where does it say that? Have found no article stating that. Sauce pls
>>32472760
Only this one that is written in fingolian. Have to wait till next year for more info.

>I get that mortars are cheaper than artillery
it's not.
>>32472763
Ok. If that is true, it's way too complex 'system' for what it is. Loading from the fucking outside of the vehicle? Jesus.
Why not do what Norway has done, fuck the turret and use a regular mortar inside. Pic related
>>32472791
I'm still pissed that we havent gone for a complete CV90 chassis base now. Fuck those ancient M113's
>>32472763
>>32472791
Beyter wait for some more sources, bashing Sweden is by far the most popular past time in Finland and they are not above using dubious sources or unsoueced claims to do so.

>>32471309
that sounds absolutely stupid, but I want to see it
>>32471251
No it's not.
>>32472521
the point of mortars is that its more explosive filler per lb of round, compared to a howitzer
Shorter range, smaller system
Just fills a different niche
You could go with one or the other if you really wanted to
>>32476076
>>32472521
Imagine how nice it would be
You're rolling in a mech infantry convoy to assault an enemy held village. AMOS vehicles can park behind a bit of cover a 2 km away and lay deadly accurate 120mm rapid mortar fire all over the village while your regular Patrias move forward, disembark infantry in a few locations and provide them with direct fire support as they move into and clear the village. Then you pack up again and the whole convoy keeps moving.
No need to stop, dig mortar pits, unload ammo from superfluous trucks, perform optical rangefinding etc. before you bring the mortars into action.
>>32472494
>Oh look a prototype
That thing was never adopted. I say again, there is no AMOS on Swedish service. Source? Im in the Swedish army
>>32476832
You literally just described the Finnish AMOS systems operational doctrine
