My old dad gave me this sexy beast for christmas (hasn't arrived yet), and I don't care what semi-auto fags say, I'mma carry it, because my funs aren't meant for a safe.
What would be a good load for it? I'm a revolver noob. Would a125g .357 do the trick or should I just go with the gun and load it with something heavier like 200gr? Or should I simply stick to the .38 P+ "FBI load" thing?

> 357 for self-defense
take a load of this homosexual
I Jelly, I've had a hardon for those things since they came out. 125gr SJHP .357's are GTG. Very killy.
Any .357 hollowpoint will put large holes into unarmored human targets.
>>32463578
It's a 357 Magnum revolver with a barrel of decent length.
Carry whatever you want, if the load is good, even nyclads will expand and penetrate well.
>>32463588
id love to give this homosexual my load

>>32463620
According to /k/, .357 isn't enough to stop a charging obese toddler. OP obviously need a 45-70 beowulf SBR with an underbarrell 20mm cannon for safety.
>>32463618
Not OP. You think .38 Lead Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point would equal good stopping power?
>>32463578
You lucky son of a bitch.
My gunsmith got one of those. He shaved the fucking hammer and put on low-profile sights. Ruined the aesthetics, but he says he wouldn't carry anything else.

It's more about shot placement than caliber anon.
Dink a mofo in upper chest with any caliber and he isn't gonna stand up so soon.
That's why you gotta go to the range and train your aim.

I still carry a .32 Walther. Flame me anons.
>>32463651
Depends how fast it flies
>>32463578
What did your new dad get you?
>>32464341
A fucking ambercrombie t-shirt.
I hate you new dad.
Use hornaday critical duty in mine and open carry it all the time. Shoots great also

I'll need a source on those grips, my man
>>32463578
You're lucky. That's a nice gun.
>I don't care what semi-auto fags say, I'mma carry it
That's an N-frame. It's not too heavy because it's made from scandium but it's dimensionally a very large gun--both longer and much thicker than a 1911. Unless you plan on open carrying it, you might run into some problems. You'll see when you have it in hand.
>What would be a good load for it?
The 125 grain .357 loads that you mentioned have an extremely good record in police use. 180-200+ grain .357 loads are meant for dealing with bears and will overpenetrate if used against people. The 158 grain .38 +P LSWCHP is also a very capable low-recoil self-defense load when fired out of a non-snub barrel.
>>32463651
Yes. The 158 grain .38 +P LSWCHP is good even today. Don't use it out of a barrel of less than 4 inches though; it will not achieve the velocities required to consistently expand through denim and risks overpenetrating.
Great gun, I love mine.
Consider changing out the mainspring and rebound spring with lower power ones, mine is now federal primer only but feels so much better.

>>32465095
Damn that thing is sexy.
>>32465170
I'mma open carry it. I live in Alaska, right into bear country, so it's not unsual for people here to open carry.
>>32463678
>.32 Walther
Looks like you do enough flaming by yourself
>>32463578
Federal classic 158 JSP, I shot a critter point blank in the neck with the famed 125 JHP and it disintegrated inside. Turned the neck to jelly but did not go through 8-10 inches of meat & bone
>>32465155
Hogue extreme g-mascus grips,$100.00 but well worth it, the monogrip it comes with is nice but very large. With those grips it feels much better. Carry it in a Garrett ind. Custom holster.
>>32465619
Hey I shot someone who was breaking into my home with it back when I was a teen.
A 6'3 black man dropped like a sack of potatos aiming center-mass, and was resumed to a fetal position pleading mess until the cops took him away.
I thrust that gun to get the job done. Shot placement matters more than caliber anon.
>>32467531
True to a point, but you said the magic words when you said you trusted it. Being comfortable, confident, and having tons of experience with a weapon is damn important when your talking a personal defense weapon. Just a suggestion, but check put the arx line of ammo stuff is damn fine stuff especially smaller caliber.

>underbarrell 20mm cannon
Here you go.
