I believe some guns are okay to own, like revolvers or single shots, but anything else you should have to go through a lot of hoops and background checks and keep the weapon at a police station. Absolutely no semi autos or worse unless you're Jewish/poc
Most of my money comes from a trust fund
I like music and parties, sometimes I visit family in Hollywood and I can get into any set I want in the company my uncle produces for
I currently shoot whatever my brother owns, he has tons of cool guns from fully automatics to sniper rifles
I don't "train". Only police, military, etc should be allowed to " train". White people who "train" are future school shooters.
I primarily hate all the racism, bigotry, sexism, xenophobia that is on k. Plus there's like virtually no diversity besides muslimbro. I do like the memes though, that's why I started browsing.

As regards to Australia - we lost big in the 90s from our previous generation; little by little we're trying to claw back. Two steps forward, one step back at the moment, but there is minor progress being made. I take great care to introduce as many people as I can to firearms and give them a positive first experience to hopefully make them come back for a second - the more licencees we have, the less we can be ignored or marginalised.

tl;dr - never stop fighting to protect what you've got, guys - cos it's fucking hard to get them back.

I go off and plink a few times a week, mostly with my air rifle and .22 pistol, and I've been getting more serious about "target shooting" vs "plinking. I make a point of doing more rigorous self defense practiceat least weekly-ish with my 9mm. I hunt as needed, but don't really practice much with my bigger guns. I should change that.

Walther PPQ M2, because I liked the ergonomics and could also get the PPQ 22 as a trainer.

CZ 455 American Synthetic

Mossberg 500 with 18.5 and 26" barrels

Mossberg MVP Scout in .308

Next year, I'm thinking about buying a more target-y pistol and ARs in .308 and .22. Autoloaders are a lot less satisfying for me than bolts or pumps but I figure I should get some kind of good experience with them for SHTF shit.

>what do you like and dislike most about /k/?

Michigan

Conservative, bit of a libertarian bent

Most guns should be legal to own, full auto and suppressors? Yes please. I think the current NICS background check system is fine, restrictive state/local regulations and registrations are dumb and should be abolished.

I'm a project manager at a think tank

I shoot because it's fun and relaxing. I've loved guns since I was young and being able to own and shoot them now is a childhood dream come true.

I get out to the range maybe once every other month. I'm hoping to get a membership to an outdoor range this year and start practicing more.

I use a P320 full size for home defense and range fun, Glock 42 for carry, AR for bench shooting, WASR for general dicking around and for 7.62x39 being my favorite cartridge.

I dislike the /pol/ overlap. I come here to talk about guns and military stuff, not politics and alt right bullshit.

>what do you like and dislike most about /k/?
That neither side is willing to budge; anti and pro gun. To come to a decent place, there needs to be compromise on both sides. I personally enjoy the Canadian approach (to some degree):

- One must pass a firearms safety and knowledge course to obtain their licensing to purchase firearms. This ensures that the individual is at a basic level knowledgeable of firearms and how to operate them, making a safer environment at shootings ranges and abroad (hunting, etc).

- The individual must undergo extensive criminal and physiological background checks. While some may disagree with this (stating that all individuals should be able to attain firearms), there are certainly some individuals who pose an overwhelming risk to not only other people, but even themselves. Preventing said individual from a machine of death is, shall we say, favorable. Caught with weed? You can still buy a gun. Charged with several counts of domestic abuse? Yeah no, you can't buy one. It makes the most sense.

I definitely don't agree with retarded shit such as magazine limits, and banning weapons BY NAME. Oh well, take what you can get here.

Can't you fucking read? I agree with your right to own guns.

>under the guise of """"""""""sensible"""""""""" gun control

Explain to me how what I said, was in anyway, not sensible? It's very real limitations that should be in place. A required course to teach correct firearm operation and firearm safety. It's short and easy. A background check to ensure the subject is mentally stable and free of criminal prosecutions. How is that unfair or unjust? You can finally prevent the criminal niggers from obtaining weapons to shoot your white women.

>Color me shocked. Now get the fuck out.

Except that they most certainly had a chain of command, or as one would say, a government. Anarchism, as a concept, fails when put into practice, considering that humans for their entire existence, will form themselves into a hierarchical chain of command. We always align ourselves into groups, with leaders and followers. It is basic human instinct to be the opposite of anarchistic. Not to mention, do you really want to live in a society where someone could just kill you for no reason? That the biggest and strongest will rule, most likely unfairly? Anarchism almost promises that after an amount of time, it will transform into facism, or a dictatorship (i.e., not anarchism).

>Do I need to take a class to speak freely? No? Then I shouldn't have to take one to own a gun. Owning a gun is a RIGHT.

It is a right. You are correct. But there is limitations to your rights. Right to free speech? You got that right...except until you begin threatening someone in a verbal manner, making them fear for their life. "bb-b-b-ut my right to free speech!" Yeah, it doesn't extend to the point you can make people fear for their lives. You rights are your rights, but you must understand that being a citizen of your country, you voluntarily give up some areas that your rights can not extend to, to ensure a safe and just environment.

This same concept applies to the second amendment. While it is your right to own weaponry, you as a citizen have given up several aspects of that right, to ensure a level playing field for all. For example, violent felons not being able to purchase a firearm. By your logic, they should be able to own one. But they can't, for good reason, regardless of it being "their right". There are limitations to everything.

>As long as someone isn't a violent felon, they should be allowed the freedom to purchase whatever firearm they please.

I agree with you.

>VOTE AWAY YOUR RIGHTS OR WE WILL STEAL THEM!
>okay fascist, try it and I will paint the streets red with the blood of your tyrant ass. You cannot give an inch, because every time we've agreed to any limitation AT ALL, they have only wanted more.

Politics, and sovereignty in general, is an ongoing debate. Both sides will always be arguing for their side. This is a good thing. THIS IS A DEMOCRACY, THE VERY THING YOU CRY TO PROTECT.

>you're fat and American

No, that's wrong. Celtic tribes had governments generally split into three types: petty kings, oligarchal republics, and some type of meritocracy (aristocratic landowners, druids, etc.)

They very much had governments.

>your right to free speech...

Yeah, that's illegal because I'm violating someone's right to safety. My rights should ONLY END where someone else's BEGIN. I should have the free ability to exercise my rights unless I infringe on someone else's. Free speech is like that. As long as I don't infringe on someone else, I can say whatever the fuck I want. I can stand on a pulpit and scream about how we need to kill all the Jews right now. That is free speech. If I say we should string up George Soros right now, I am infringing on his right to safety, that is a crime and not protected. It is a false equivalency.

>social contract

You are right, but you've activated my trap card. I know all about social contract, I wrote most of my papers in college over social contract theory, John Locke, and Treatise of Government.

The United States Constitution is the embodiment of the Social Contract between the American citizens and the government. That social contract ALREADY has a clause about firearms. It says my rights to bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. That is the standing social contract. You deciding to arbitrarily take more of my rights and using Social Contract as an excuse is fucking laughable, as it stands right now, all gun laws on the books are trash and unconstitutional. The good thing about that is that since we have a Lockian social contract, I am free to defend my rights by spilling the blood of tyrants, if need be. You, in this case, are a tyrant, because you believe that we should have our rights arbitrarily limited, even though our social contract states that what you are doing is expressly prohibited.

Owning a gun is not infringing on another's right. Therefore there is no reason to limit that right. You are equating owing a gun to hate speech, do you realize that? You are saying someone should feel threatened because I own a gun, which is insane.

Celts had some form of nobility in every tribe. Either through actual royalty, or the biggest baddest dude in the tribe. And everybody listened to Druids. No matter who they were, if a Druid showed up, they listened. Even kings.

The Celts also had a more or less egalitarian society compared to the rest of Europe. Mind you, I said "compared to". They weren't shining examples of equality. But they let women fight from time to time. They had female Druids. Homosex was cool. If you were poor, the tribe took care of you in exchange for something deemed fair. and so on.

And that doesn't go for every tribe. The Celts were the same ethnicity, sure. But every tribe/kingdom was different. But they all had a hierarchy of some sort, and it was usually pretty absolute.

Uhm. Not him, but you are not criminally liable for making threats, generally. It depends on the state. You can get away with saying whatever you want. Including what the other guy said. You can say "i'll kill you" "I'll fuck your corpse". etc.

The key is intent. You can say whatever, as long as your intentions are not truly based in malice. In some states where everyone's a little bit on the sissy side, what they base intent off of is usually more "liberal". You can say something that hurts another person's feelings and be cited. Or even jailed. In my state, you have to more or less repeatedly threaten a person and show literal intent of hurting them. Such as making threats through text messages on a regular basis. Or stalking.

Point is, it depends on the state. The federal government doesn't have the categorization of "threats" as a crime for it to apply here.

But as I said. You are generally not criminally liable for saying mean things. However, you can be sued for saying pretty much anything. i.e. you are civilly liable for every word you speak.

>Yeah, that's illegal because I'm violating someone's right to safety. My rights should ONLY END where someone else's BEGIN.

I agree with you. However, does someone owning a gun and operating it within my presence in an unsafe manner, not constitute a violation of my right to safety? If everyone is required to go through a course that teaches firearm safety and proper handling, then we can ensure that anyone who owns said gun, will not inherently be infringing anyone else's right of safety. I'm not saying you can't buy weapons, I'm just saying you should need to understand how to operate them safely to prevent infringing on the rights of others to remain safe. It is more than an acceptable level of gun control.

>You are equating owing a gun to hate speech, do you realize that?

False equivalency. That was not my point.

>You are saying someone should feel threatened because I own a gun, which is insane.

That is not what I meant either. Owning a weapon, and using one, are entirely different, no? I am not afraid that you own a weapon, I am afraid that you might use it incorrectly should we be on the range or hunting, etc. Is it not a worthwhile decision to ensure that those who are using them, be at some degree, marginally trained (understanding of safety compliances)?

>you believe that we should have our rights arbitrarily limited, even though our social contract states that what you are doing is expressly prohibited.

But these limitations are not arbitrary, no? They are grounded in very real aspects of reality and safety. Much like the free speech limitations. You can say and do whatever you want, until they infringe on someone else's rights. This is a limitation, which from what we both agree, is not arbitrary. This same thing applies to some limitations on owning/operating a weapon, some of which I have described.

>That was not my point.

But that was the point made

>I am afraid that you might use it incorrectly
>might

I am afraid that you might say something extra hurtful to me, therefore you are not allowed to speak. This is fair, no?

>Is it not a worthwhile decision to ensure that those who are using them, be at some degree, marginally trained (understanding of safety compliances)?

Not if it is compulsory. Government compulsion is extremely dangerous, and here is why:

The government exists to kill people. Seriously, that is what they are best at. Every single law in the US is enforced at gunpoint. Every single law in the United States is set up so that, if broken, a man with a gun will force you to comply or punish you, and if you resist, he will kill you. Every single law passed is like that. So with every law you must ask yourself: are you willing to murder as many people as it takes to get them to comply?

So, are you willing to kill people who own guns or buy guns without having a safety course? Are you honestly willing to kill these guys?

>But these limitations are not arbitrary, no?

Yes, they are, because I can almost guarantee you there will be no impact on gun violence.

Another question: what will the law solve? Is it the only way or best way to solve the problem?

Nothing and no.

>inb4 sov. citizen nutjob

I'm a cop, I say this as a man with the guns to enforce the laws: I have no desire to oppress my fellow man. I have no desire to enforce unconstitutional laws, and the ones we have are bad enough, and I live in one of the most free states.

>>
>>32463664
>But that was the point made

My point was simply to say that just because it is a right, doesn't mean that it doesn't have limitations. I used the situation of violent threats towards someone as an example of a limitation of a freedom. You assuming that I'm equating that to owning a weapon, was false.

>I am afraid that you might say something extra hurtful to me, therefore you are not allowed to speak. This is fair, no?

I suppose I understand what you are trying to say, in the sense simply the fear that one might do something harmful, is not a reason to violate or impede someones rights, but again does this not simply revolve back to the right of safety and how that is enforced? Would it be through preventative action, or reactive force? In the case of weaponry, I would argue preventative, such as licensing and training.

>The government exists to kill people. Seriously, that is what they are best at.

This is quite the oversimplification of not only the concept of government, but also the concept of law and it's enforcement.

>So, are you willing to kill people who own guns or buy guns without having a safety course? Are you honestly willing to kill these guys?

To a fault, yes. This logic could be said for anything though. I fail to see what you are trying to prove. If an individual is driving drunk, and refuses to stop and refuses arrest and containment, proving himself a danger to society, why would it not be lawful to kill? Assuming that SOMEHOW you are not able to get this individual under control. The same goes for illegally owned and operated firearms, or any law for that matter. You inform the individual they are breaking the law and must comply. If they do not, you forcibly punish them in containment (prison), if for some reason it is unsafe to do this, and the individual presents a danger to all involved, you kill them. This concept is for every law, literally the ones you agree with. What point are you making here?

>Yes, they are, because I can almost guarantee you there will be no impact on gun violence.

Then explain to me the complete disparity between gun violence within Canada and the United States, after it is adjusted for population. We have an enormously decreased rate of gun violence within our country when compared to yours. Our laws are similar, with Canadian laws being even more lax than some US states. This doesn't only apply to Canada, it applies to almost every single developed nation. All of which follow similar standards of gun control that Canada and other developed nations employ. It is clear that these regulations are stifling gun violence. On top of that, suicide is the largest contributer of gun violence within Canada. Clearly, our gun regulations prevents person on person violence.

>Another question: what will the law solve? Is it the only way or best way to solve the problem?

I'm a cop, no it's not.

>This concept is for every law, literally the ones you agree with. What point are you making here?

I am aware, and laws like drinking and driving I agree with, I would kill someone for drinking and driving if they resisted violently and I had to. Same with domestic battery, battery of a child, rape, child molestation... it isn't a bad thing, but the basic definition of government is the body that holds a monopoly on legitimate violence. That is what makes a government so.

The point is, I am not willing to kill people for owning a gun and not jumping through hoops.

See, the Bill of Rights is not a list of things the government lets you do, it is a list of rights that you have as a human that the government recognizes. This is where Canada and America differ. In Canada the government lets you own a gun, in America, God (or the secular universe, whatever) lets you own a gun and the government promises not to interfere.
