The A2 series of rifle is fantastic. I've used a Polish AK and M16 in the same training exercise, and a French FAMAS in a separate one. I will, gladly, take the L85 over those other two. Not because of "muh bias" or anything to do with that, but because the rifle in general is better to use. Again, as others have mentioned, the L85 is a very heavy weapon, no question about it. However, using both the M16 and FAMAS, I didn't feel comfortable with either. When I'd go running, the FAMAS felt like it was going to fall apart as I could hear the working parts of the rifle clatter against, what I assume was the outer shell. More so when I squeezed off a couple dozen rounds. And, I shit you not by gods will, when I let off about 15 rounds or maybe more on the M16, I had a stoppage. The kalashnikov rifle was the only other weapon I didn't have a problem with, other than it didn't come with any actual sights than the rear and fore basics.

The L85A2 is a genuine brilliant piece of kit, I absolutely adore it, and it's probably one of the main reasons why I'm still in, is because if I go back to civie street, I won't be able to use it properly again. That being said, I'm not saying that the FAMAS or M16 are shit rifles either, as I'd gladly use them also, I'm just stating the fact that I feel more comfortable using the SA80, and I feel like that I can rely on the weapon more and I can reliably drop targets from 600 meters out.

Bulllpup has both positives and negatives. The A2 is just as reliable as a well-lubed M4, and any M4 can get 1 moa, same as the A2.
I know you can adjust to shooting right handed, but switching hands in combat is very useful.

They have HK417's, but that's 7.62x51. Their 5.56x45 rifle is the L119A1/A2, which is a C8SFW under a different name. Still very much DGI.

There's a reason nobody really wins matches with bullpups. The AR-15 dominates run and gun competition because it's an extremely fast gun to run. That's important for Special Forces, who do a lot more directly shooting at people in close quarters than the average soldier.
