The States isn't going to stop China claiming basically international waters, obviously. Not worth risking a huge conflict over fucking salt water that 10 different variations of chinks claim. But what America WILL do is defend Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea if ever attacked.

Whether or not the States gives a shit about those countries or not is unimportant, there are a lot of airbases in those countries and China will have to take them from America's cold dead hands. So basically China's not getting those airbases.
