Why police/military forces in the US don't use helmet with ballistic visor ?
>>
>>32443202
awkward, heavy, give you letterbox vision and only the very bulkiest stuff actually stop anything.

If they expect that face protection is required, they want neck and groin protection too, which means shield.

But lot of europeans CT police forces love it. Even military SF in Russia or France use them.
On the other hand i've never seen swat teams with these.
>>
Why not using a Kevlar made motorcycle helmet?
>>
>>32443202
turret gunners used them in iraq.

these things are only useful in very niche situations. Bad for general use. Prevents cheek weld, proper eye relief for optics and is heavy and awkward.
>>
>>32443225
>letterbox vision
???
It's fully transparent mate.

I'm pretty sure most riot police uses this kind of helmet (probably not bulletproof though).

Compared to ballistic glasses, real "bulletproof" visors offer more protection (rated up to IIIa) and cover the whole face without impeding visibility too much (great against debris and schrapnels).

Of course they're much heavier and bulky compared to ballistic glasses, but like always it's a tradeoff between protection and ease of use/mobility.
>>
>>32443298
>but like always it's a tradeoff between protection and ease of use/mobility.
And this is why it's ackward that swat teams don't use them, especially when they use ballistic shields.
>>
>>32443298
>It's fully transparent mate.
In that example I was referring specifically to Altyn helmets and their western equivalents, which are rated to a couple of AK rounds or a number of 9mm AP.

US military and SWAT like to use rifles with sights and cheek welds so the visors get in the way. Russia doesn't care so much for stock, or cheek welds so it's fine

Lets not be disingenuous, hes obviously got his flashlight there because he could never practically use his sights with his shield.
>>
>>32443394
What's with russians and using our camo?

not knocking it, we should be allies and shit.

but really
>>
>>32443408
why not use a laser tho?

This seems to be a situation where it would be perfect, unless he is in such tight quarters that 25 degrees to either side from center will still hit the target.
>>
>>32443401
what helmet is this? I want to see how much they cost...
>>
I know this is off topic, but why haven't riot police integrated tasers into their shields?
>>
>>32443812
how the fuck would that work

Are we talking shooting kind of tasers, or the point to point contact kind?

It would just be unwieldy and unnecessary added weight.

>>

No they don't the only military units that use them would be EOD.
So far all the Russians posted in this thread have been under MVD command, in other words, internal special police.
>>
>>32443812

I can see where your coming from, but your shield and your weapon won't be pointing in the same place. There would be no point.

Lasers are basically pointless and do more bad than good.
IR lasers in use with NODs is another story.
>>32443680
Few Russian companies have developed their own patterns, especially pre-2010ish, so a lot of gear companies simply used existing patterns. Special police units usually can spend freely(within reason), just like any other police force, so you'll see mismatched gear like Glocks, western precision rifles occasionally, and optics. With their gear industry kicking up again you'll probably see less non-domestic hardware.
Basically with an absence of an effective domestic product, police forces looked elsewhere.
Also, if it works who cares where it originated?
>pic related, an increase in the use of domestic gear

>>32443920

Don't know for Russians, but the french SF use them for CT or hostage liberation (ECTLO for the navy commando or CTLO for army/air force commando i think it's called)

Altyn Helmet, my dude.

Yes, it can actually stop a bullet. Seeing what you're shooting at is for pussies.

SPHERE helmets are like a thousand dollars and are made of titanium. pretty sure you can only buy the lighter riot versions of them and they're about 600 bucks.

Police in America don't generally have to deal with rioting. When they do there's other tactics such as riot shield like other anon said, or teargassing the fuck out of them.

Tl;Dr we don't have constant riots where our citizens are constantly throwing shit at our cops faces.
>>
>>32444228
why have the spare magazine 180 degrees to the main? Wouldn't a reload be faster without having to spin the dual assembly completely around?
>>
>>32444228
I've seen it answered here before, can't remember what it is. What is this guy's side arm? I'm guessing they let these guys pick whatever they want for sidearm?
>>
>>32443202
I get a feeling it's less for bullets and more for dealing with shit flying at your faace, while still having your hands free. Protestors who like to use acid in water guns or just toss shit at you(perhaps literally).

Because, Eurofriend, the states aren't actually as dangerous as you think.

we are not talking about riot helmet here, but ballistic helmet used by SF.
>>
>>32444501
That might be what you're talking about. Show me where OP said SF?

As for generally military or SWAT maybe so accurate eye relief for aiming. So SWAT doesn't just shoot hostages too Russia style.
>>
>>32444542
>military/police
>>
>>32444552
Again. Where did he say SF?

Riot cops don't have ballistic visor as far as i know.

what about the other europeans "swat" police ? GIGN, GSG9, etc ??

There's your answer. Dropped.

Crayons usually involve colors. So do Rainbows.

What's your fucking point?
>>
>>32443887
Both, it's true that it would add weight, but obviously you wouldn't have those scenes where protesters are slamming their bodies into the shields anymore.

>>32443988
If it was reliable enough you may not even need a baton.
>>
>>32444605
>mad amerifat who doesn't even know what a ballistic visor is.
