Alright /k/ lets go down this road. Opinions on lanyards. I'll get the discussion rolling with this, imagine doing something like riding a snowmobile or four wheeler or something similar, I would consider a lanyard very useful for that because I personally do not use holsters with buttons or hoods or anything, just passive retention given by kydex.

For cops it makes a lot of sense too for close quarters brawls, usually cops have multiple types of retention so getting your gun nabbed isn't an issue unless its drawn which the lanyard still proves useful.

I have nothing against lanyards for pistols but you're a dumbass if you lose a pistol because it fell out of your level 1 holster

kek, I know it seams dumb but imagine if you get in a wreck or whatever, it is "possible". And pistol lanyards seam more common for jap cops or someone whose primary weapon is not the pistol doesnt it? Seams like US cops don't want the extra crap to get in the way or get snagged.

Not saying you're wrong but you've obviously never been in the military. They call it dummy cord for a reason...

kek I'm not said poster but I did my 4 in the marines and I noticed they issued lanyards to machine gunners carrying an m9 as pdw/backup on their drop leg. Made perfect sense in that situation. I imagine coast guard and helo type LE/military guys might like em too. I wish more cops could jump in and give input.

kek, you mad because a lanyard doesn't make sense for someone that never leaves their basement?

All of my experience with this comes from playing airshit but it might help. The lanyard is massively useful for keeping your gun if it's not buttoned or properly secured in the holster and then you are also running and sliding and hoping over barricades and stuff like that. However from personal experience it is more cumbersome and reduces speed at which you can acquire targets. If you want it for 4wheeling or whatever I would say to go for it because a pistol that is slow is better than no pistol. If I were you I would just get a secure holster
>>
>>32440114
I used one on my pistol when I was inside several bunkers and missile silos.
>>
>>32440371
kek ya airsofters do wild shit and really run around like crazy asses from what I've seen. Well the thing is I don't like holsters with retention, thus I don't own any for the pistol I'd carry ona bike ect, so the lanyard is a cheap solution. Like I said just looking for input, thanks for the perspective.

Basically this, lanyards are cool and all but you could just get a better holster instead.

Its a nice thought but the less shit I have on my duty belt for myself to get hung up on going on warrants and building searches the better. Im totally for weapon retention but there's a balance.
>>
>>32440114
Cons: it's heavy and can get tangled and caught on things

Pros: your dumb ass can't lose your pistol

If my war holster wasn't active retention I'd probably use one.
>>
>>32440162
anyone know the name of that specific type of lanyard? looks way less annoying than the rope or telephone cord looking ones.
>>
>>32440114
My p07 is built for a retention strap, don't use it though.
