Anyone got any ideas about Tennessee? My plan is to work for a while once I graduate with a CS degree in Nashville, just renting a shitty apartment. Then I plan on moving to East TN, where there is land. I inherited a wine vineyard in Argentina, but I've never been there in my life.

Any land outside the city limits is good for shooting. Some counties have laws about how close the nearest structure can be. Others tell you not to be a fucking regard and have fun.

I have 5 acres and shoot in the back yard. Be very conscious of the neighbors and lines of fire. Hills can cause problems with ricochet.

Not all that much if you can find a strip with a backstop/hill and room to make a driving path if you are going hundreds of yards. More is better though, and preferably have an old gravel pit or something where you can blast holes in clay/water etc for fun too.
Most of us could probably survive with a 100 yard or slightly more long strip and some room to set up a table on one end and a target at the other. Kindof like pic related.

My house is on 3 acres and I shoot here safely, and it's all contained on my property.
Im in an unicorporated part of my county, and i live 3 miles from the county line of the most populated county in my state too.
Its more about the layout. My property ajoins 160 acres of pine timber, the side a joining is sloping to a holler with a dry creek bed, with a 50ft ridge behind it. Obviously the more room you have the more ideal, but when your looking at shooting safely on small plots (anything less than say 40acres) natural terrain is key, and there's also the route of building a berm(s). After all, lots of outdoor ranges are just a few acres, hell even indoor ranges.
