Here's some amusing information, Leo2A4 driver hatch is around 20mm thick,as if that isn't bad enough it's angled forward so you can shoot at it while being on flat ground in front of the tank. Supposedly America considered leo2 crew safety too poor so they built their own tank rather than risking another mbt-70.

After the 2006 war people declared that the tank's reign was at an end.
But the Israelis decided their losses were due to poor training and application, and the tanks themselves were fine.
Tank losses in the Donbass, by contrast, hasn't seen people declare the end of an era. They've just realized that AT weaponry has advanced faster than tank protection has, and there needs to be a renewed focus on defense.

Look at it there's a clear view into the fighting compartment below the turret ring from front on. They tried to fix it on the leo2a5 onward but it's still pretty crap.

Shoot any type of AT weapon at that hatch and it's going to go through and burn the crew to death if the pressure didn't kill them. If they used any of the hull ammo storage they're even more screwed and will probably throw the turret.

Does any tank aficionados know what the white cross on the back of the tank is for? I've always wondered why it's on virtually all German-made vehicles.
