I had recently purchased an original Winchester Model 1887 10 Gauge and I have done more research on the types of loads it would originally take. Is it possibly to fire low load modern 10 gauge. Or should I use the original black power.
I was looking here http://www.buffaloarms.com/Black_Powder_Shotgun_Ammo_pr-4273.aspx
Wondering if any here would be okay to use.
It will handle any non-steel modern load.

Is there a certain brand that has this type of load or would you recommend that I do my own loading?

I would not ask here.. Someone on a SASS forum would know.

Thanks

Just look for lead or bismuth loads. If you feel like waterfowling stick to bismuth or possibly some of the tungsten matrix shells.

Well the one huge concern I have is case pressure. Are modern smokeless powder rounds completely fine with a light load

Even with heavy loads.
Case pressure standards are the same between black powder and smokeless.

Isn't it generally a bad idea to use smokeless powder in a black powder gun period?
>>32382439
Only if you are a complete idiot and try loading the same amounts.
Smokeless is 3-6 times mmore efficient per grain so smaller amounts are needed to reach the same pressures.

I figured out if you sign up for SASS it uses your Fallout nexus profile...

That is what I know so far.

I would love imagine it's safe so long as you use the dram equivalency.

yeah i have one also, i will post photo's after work if this thread is still around.
judging from the picture mine has a much longer barrel though...fuggin beast.

So it's a model 1887 and not a model 1901?
If it's a model 1901 it should be absolutely fine, they were re-designed to handle smokeless powder shells.

Just like OP's mum
