The TNW MG34 is an awesome addition but is a bit finicky. Plus is that they are collector items and from what I remember when I got mine they are about out of kits so they will keep their value. Plus there are lots of cool accessories that you can buy that are not too expensive

The SMG FG42 is also a nice addiction, unlike the MG34 is way more reliable and lighter, mags are somewhat common and you can find them if you look hard enough. Not too much out there for accessories other than a sling and optic... both will be repros as the originals are insanely rare and $$$$

A little cheaper is the DSA RPD, Of my belt feds it's my fav. Cheap ammo, decent availability of mil surp parts and accessories. Why this is a good suggestion is that they are halting production, so their value will go up

So I am well aware of just how finikey they can be, the DP28 refuses to cycle unless using surplus ammo. I am really leaning to the MG34 because I really like collecting guns from a historical aspect rather than a usable aspect. Also from what I remember from my 34 is that the belts are hit and miss. This is because most of the belts on the market are for the 42, or M53. They are identical to the 34's but from what I was told my TNW the metal on the 34 belts are softer and don't crimp the rnd as tight so feeding esp in semi is easier.

There are 42 belts that will work but it will be a trail an error type of deal, luckily the belts from what I remember were like $2.00 - $5.00 each so buying a bunch was not too expensive. Also to aid in feeding I was told to spray WD40 on the belts before shooting

Not really. "Pre-ban" guns aka pre-86 would still command a premium in the market. Perhaps not Cobray MAC's but Colt M16's IMO would still go in the 15-20k range or more.
