I was at a gun store the other day looking for some .22 LR hollow points but gun store man said .22 HPs suck because of low velocity.
Is this true? Anyone here ever use .22 hollow points?

It's a .22. THere's really no point
>>32371995
No pun intended
i trust my life to centerfire cartridges only, not rimfire
>>32371990
Nah, the man's talking out of his ass. Hollow points don't really lose velocity at range that you'd expect to hit out to.

Well, they rarely mushroom up like bigger or centerfire bullets. They just break apart or maintain their shape.
So you could argue just use round solids.

It doesn't matter if it has a hollow point.
There is only one 22 round that expands properly - CCI Stinger that was shot out of a rifle. Good luck finding these.

Why do you want hollow points for your plinking gun?
>>32372189
You can never be too prepared

And .45 Auto JHPs that move 200 FPS don't?
Please.
Also, random PSA:
If you find packs of 325 Federal 22LR that says "perfect for semi autos", don't trust them. Barely cycle in the pistol. Perhaps perfect for rifles.

They exist, but they are not very good to use. Most complaints of bad feeding you see for .22's on the net have something to do with hollowpoints.

What is CCI Stinger?
