Shooting while walking is a pretty good thing to practice on. But somehow I image it's all gay'd up and with a layer of faux operator machismo in Yeager's classes. Biggest thing I hate in shooting courses is how they pretend like a day of them makes somebody a 1337 operator and the whole thing is treated like a theme park ride more than real training.

I don't get where this stereotype of being in the military = gun and tactics savvy comes from. Most of the guys at my command are absolutely shit shots, can barely hit a target at 25yds with the M16. The only ones who are any good are the ones who own their own rifles and shoot on their own time as a "civilian".

I've learned a shitload of target shooting and tracking from civilians that I've never heard from the military.

The only problem is the gun culture where everybody absolutely has to present themselves as an ultra mega duty special operations badass for people to take a look at their training. It causes laid back but knowledgeable people to get get passed over, and loud mouthed windbags who look the part (to civilians) like Yeager to become popular.

If you're in any kind of unit that is combat arms or combat oriented, you'd actually be shocked how much more you know than the average civilian shooter. Plenty of times at the local ranges I've had civilian people next to me absolutely have no idea how to operate an AR or zero it.

A lot of basic military skills really look like magic to the general population.

It's great to share knowledge, it goes over the line when you try to leverage military experience into something it wasn't by implying you were more special forceser than you were. Teach what you know and don't overreach or be obnoxious about it.

Not a single person in this thread has ever been to a TR class. Yeager owns it, but he is not the only instructor. Fuck, Jordan Winkler works for him and he is Yeager's antithesis. They have some really good trainers, and it isn't any more dangerous than anywhere else. Taking Fighting Pistol again next month and Fighting Rifle in April. 3rd party training has taught me more then Uncle Sam ever did, his only requirement to throw you over the line is to have a pulse. You may not like Yeager, but his school is solid and the training is great. Every last one of you would benefit from it. Take a class before you talk shit.

Had a female trainee in my active shooter school. We were going into a scenario where the shooter was "engaging" civis and we were all armed with sim rounds. Full battle rattle, moving in formation, etc. Good stuff.

The instructors have her take point for some reason. Lo and behold, she makes contact front with the shooter. *click* Dumb bitch didn't have a round chambered.

I still have blue detergent on my plate carrier after he popped all of us.


She's deployed in the middle east right now. Carrying a gun.
