Stuff from the Germans is harder to find. Otto Carius has a book, can't remember the name. It would be much easier to find British or American books.

I recommend watching Fury (Just watch the battle scenes on youtube.) and The Beast/The Beast of War.

Unless you're actually going to be writing in German, you'll probably use the same English terminology as any other media. While there will definitely be differences from the German words, you'll get a good idea of how the crew interacts.

I may catch shit for this but David Drakes Hammers Slammers series is some of the best writing about Armoured life I've seen.He was with the Blackhorse in Nam and and it really shows in the way he makes it feel so familiar.

You could try Kelly's heroes. It's got a good number of scenes with shermans.
Only issue is the characters are fairly unique and it would be difficult not to plagiarise them

crew is usually

Commander
his tank, his rules. constantly listening and reporting on radio, taking orders and telling the driver where to go and gunner where to look

Gunner
senior and generally doesnt do much other than gun maintenance and obviously shoot (only shoots when directly told by commander to shoot)

Loader
in charge of radios, cooking meals and most importantly making coffee. only other person thats outside the tank so he helps commander look out for things when hes not inside loading. also in charge of stores, making sure everything is strapped down. also helps driver

Driver
generally newest member is the driver. vehicle maintenance is hes main responsibility along with not killing the other crew by driving in to a crater the size of the moon. best job, no real responsibility and tucked away from the rest of the crew

of course different tank but it can help build an image

tanks are always with other tanks and support
no lone wolf bullshit
