This meme has to die.

Stop doing anal with fudds in the gunshow parking lot you double barrel faggot.
>>
20c/rnd at cabelas for birdshot is pretty good.

more fun per trigger pull than 9mm or 556
>>
>>32359061

12 gauge is one of the cheapest calibers to shoot, its even cheaper then .22

https://www.slickguns.com/category/ammo?caliber=6
>>
>>32359061

That's hunting/self-defense loads, anon.

And considering you have a dead deer or human with that $1.50, that's pretty good, no?

N-no, d-don't discard my opinion, senpai.
>>
>>32359125
Those numbers are way off, 12 GA is not cheaper per shot than 22LR unless you're comparing match 22 vs bargain birdshot.

Maybe you folks could help, parents were noguns, I rifle and handgun, dad decided on a 12ga Stevens 320, my mother is 4"11 130lbs soaking wet. And I couldn't change their minds, it's a hd gun, 00 buckshot seems like the way to be, but does #1 buck reduced recoil exist, also what loads to use for practice shooting at paper? My thinking is something that will mimic the defense load, but that's more expensive, and recoils more?
Plz help
>>
>>32360638
Buy 2 boxes of defense ammo, run a mag or two through it to get the feel. Leave the rest for HD ammo. Practice with high brass or magnum rounds if your gun can take it. Remember, match the shells to the barrel so you don't lose a hand :D
>>
>>32360682
I'm trying to get my parents into guns not chase them away

low recoil buckshot is adequate for hd
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/federal-power-shok-low-recoil-buckshot-12-gauge-2-3-4-9-pellets-00-buck-5-rounds?a=1580774

it exists in #1 but is hard to find

Then make sure they use the right length shells? 3'' in a 2 3/4" chamber isn't too good. Make sure they know the difference then get them some range time. Use cheap bird/target loads to get them used to it and teach the basics.
>>
>>32360812
>>32360816
Thanks anons, I'm pretty sure it's 2 3/4, I was more referring to magnum and high brass recommendation, I don't know a lot, but enough to know that's a troll
>>
>>32360875
It's not?
>>
So I found some relatively cheap buckshot at Cabela's, it's called mini buckshot and it has six 00 sized pellets in each cartridge instead of nine.
Is that a market gimmick or actually practical?
>>
>>32359061
Umm ok , well I live in Australia where most anything to do with guns is expensive and I bought 100 rounds of Trap loads seconds for $20Au , they work fine but have dents and shit.
>>
>>32360883
Thought they were the opposite of low recoil no?
>>
>>32360976
Low recoil HD rounds and buck exist, but they're hard to find. If you're going to use buck for HD and it's high brass then you'll want to find a cheaper high brass load so they can practice with to get the feel of and you not break the bank. If you train on low recoil and have the real deal in the gun it's going to drastically affect how they handle it.
>>
>>32359061
that's what you pay for buying ammo at walmart
>>
>>32360812
buckshot is weak ass bullshit, no penetration.

even if that's important in your home I would still use at least 9mm/45 or slugs

make sure it's 3" too
>>
ITT we brainstorm ideas for the mass-conversion/production of 'wax slugs'.

i think the obvious ideal would be a system where the binder material is simply injected into an otherwise untouched birdshot shell. the typical paraffin wax seems like it would be very problematic for this - you'd need to pressurize it in its molten state, and even then it may just cool too quickly for saturation no matter what you do. some alternative binder would most likely be required, eg. a chemical reactive epoxy which always hardens after a set amount of time. even just typical glue which air-hardens might not work too well, due to how totally sealed the shell is.

there's also the possibility that there just isn't enough space between the shot, in an off-the-shelf shell. that even if you filled up every bit of air gap with the binder of your choice, it just wouldn't hold together.

T h i s. Shotguns are so popular for a reason.

A pack of 90 clays is, what, $7? A pack of 100 target loads is $22? And then factor in a clay thrower, which is a one-time cost?

Wow, spend some money on quality slugs or buckshot for hunting/hd? Big fuckin' deal.

Wow, spend some money on quality slugs or buckshot for a range trip to blow up some watermelon or 2 liters? Big. Fucking. Deal.

Just stop being so poor OP, for fuck sake.
Shotguns offer, quite literally, the most bang for your buck. If you're that obsessed with pinching every penny you make: consider a Lee Load-All II. Coupled with a decent load book/pamphlet you could jew your way to happiness.

are you sure you're not thinking of birdshot?
Run of the mill, non magnum buckshot will rip right through a man and the drywall behind him

Still sad the media at large don't realize slugs exist and with a hot loaded slug in a 12ga, you can effectively punch out pretty damn far for a shotgun.
Not to mention if you go for specially hardened 3" magnium slugs that'll tear into a car.

This, OP.

Low-recoil=low-power

It's literally physics. Might as well be using fucking birdshot.

Even after sales tax, I just bought 500rds yesterday for 25.6c/r.
Even HD loads aren't necessarily that expensive by a longshot.

Low recoil buckshot is more than adequate for dropping a human. It's called "buckshot" for a reason dipshits. Hitting anyone center mass at 15 feet with 9 .38 pellets going 1140fps will stop them.
Considering how potent a 12 gauge is do you really have room to complain about $1 shells when your specialty pistol rounds cost as much or more? Just stop shooting hunting shells at paper targets by the box.

it's so you can load more in your tube, gives you a bit higher capacity.

i pry open birdshot shells, drizzle in a little foaming gorilla glue then push the crimp back down after it dries. works okay and no risk of wax melting, running down the barrel, re-hardening and obstructing my bore

>>32360638
Unless you hit the 4 key instead of the 5, your mother is too fat to use "soaking wet" on.
