How much should I expect to spend on freefloating my riflle, including the cost of a mid/low tier tube/rail?

I don't have any of the tools I'd need to remove/replace the gas block or delta ring. Would it be cheaper to pay a gunsmith to do it instead of buying the tools?

It depends on what quality you're willing to pay for. Also what parts do you have already, if any?

If you already have a bench and a vise, it's almost certainly cheaper to do it yourself and the experience is rewarding.

The trigger is just a step above milspec but I don't think that was the issue, I was shooting from a rest, the trigger is a bit long and gritty but I felt pretty good about my own consistency. Now if the mount was walking around on me a little bit that wouldn't surprise me.

I get 1-2 MOA with wolf steel out of a 10.5" barrel. Based ballistic advantage. All other barrel makers btfo.

>>32356798
Also I would say just buy a prebuilt upper. http://palmettostatearmory.com/ar-15-05/barreled-upper-assemblies.html?upper_barrel_length=1380&upper_caliber=1369&upper_handguard_type=1362

Or if you want to spend a little more, get an Aero upper which uses Ballistic Advantage barrels.

But I will say it wasn't typical wolf steel. I bought it from SG ammo once and haven't been able to find it again, wish I saved the SKU. It was full copper... not bi-metal/magnetic, ran very clean. mythical cheap/good ammo never again :(

The fact that you haven't saved a single image of a one MOA group produced with your rifle, despite a one MOA group through an AR being an unusual achievement even with match ammo, is all the evidence needed.

You're a liar and a braggart. The real surprise is that the tripcode didn't tip me off before I even posted. I have regrets at having some expectation of humanity, honor, empathy or integrity from a tripfaggot.

best groups are not the same as average groups and this is where i feel the divide is.
i call my 14.5 a 2moa rifle because i know it will never shoot outside of 2moa with match ammo but some would say sub moa because they can get a sub moa group once.

also, it's how many rounds you shoot, 3rd groups are easy to get sub moa but 10 is much harder.

That's totally reasonable, both as an expectation and as a claim. But saying you shoot 1 MOA with the most trash blasting ammo on the planet is ridiculous. If I shot several 1 MOA groups with match ammo I'd have pictures of that. If I shot a single 1 MOA group with Russian garbage, I'd be interviewed on scout.com.

I should have learned my lesson from the decibels thing. The kid is just damaged.

By stating that shooting a 1 MOA group isn't unusual, are you therefore stating that shooting a 1 MOA group with your rifle is the standard for you? So many of your groups are under one inch at 100 yards that to shoot a group OVER that is unusual?

Or are you just saying that shooting a 1 MOA group isn't completely impossible?

I'm making a distinction here. I said a 1 MOA group from an AR is unusual. As in, not the usual. You disagreed. What is your basis for disagreeing?

>are you therefore stating that shooting a 1 MOA group with your rifle is the standard for you?
Yes

I'm also not just talking about any walmart AR shooting 1MOA regularly with any ammo
If you put one together with money and knowledge of components, it's not uncommon to get 1MOA consistently.
If you have a precision rifle background, you'll be more successful
The FIRST time I shot my SPR barrel, I got 3 5 shot groups that were all about 3/4" with the largest one still being under an inch
I could obviously be lying, but I care more about spreading knowledge than boosting my epeen on a Malaysian analingus forum

If you have only one rifle (I don't know you), then you got very lucky with your specific build. 1 MOA is not the usual for ARs, with any ammo. 2-3 MOA is normal with bulk ammo, 1-1.5 MOA is normal with match ammo.

I'd be more inclined to believe you if you had photos.

People spend thousands of dollars chasing 1 MOA, go browse around ar15.coms precision forum some time. 1 MOA is definitely not the usual.

Unless you're talking about 150 yards, that is not 1 MOA. Your AR falls into the standard category of "not 1 MOA."

I didn't say the budget rifle shot 1". I said it shot 1.25" to 1.5" with bulk ammo contrary to his claim that they will shoot 2-3 MOA. Your links to ARFCOM don't change the fact that this rifle will do this consistently.

now, would my groups be better if i shot one ammo at a type instead of switching after every group? probably, but the fact remains that real sub moa means <1" all day long, and that is tough.
anything under .75moa is handload only and under .5moa is rail guns

bulk ammo implies cheap shit like tula, wolf, or m193 for brass.
that shit is 3-4moa, REAL moa, out of even quality ar's
>>
>>32358259

i'd go with prvi 75 gr loads for cheap shooting and somewhat decent groups

for greentip, i'd go with IMI M855 over other brands if you want consistency, even though greentip in general is just not a good round

i run a recce 16" midlength and i've shot federal m855, prvi m855, danish/swede m855 and IMI seems to be the most consistent for me in 1/7 twist barrel

i really wouldnt run greentip in an SPR build
>>
>>32358441

im sure if I put my rifle in a fancy rest i could easily get under that with match ammo. I get under sub moa everytime I shoot off a bench and use good ammo.

Did you just make that in MS paint? Really stimulated those neurons. I've never actually come across a rifle that will deliver consistent sized groups but put them all over the place like that. Unless you count shooting a quick cold bore group and then shooting a second group 100 rounds later. I've seen that happen then.

Either way, the group in the top photo is still a consistently 1.5" rifle, but seems to have issues holding a zero.

Greentip was just what I use when I go shooting with my old man. We normally don't shoot very far so the consistency of ammo has never been an issue. It wasn't until I starting shooting my 18" that I normally never touch that I realized how dogshit greentip is group-wise.

unless you can hit a (x)moa target all day, your rifle isn't that moa.

EXAMPLE: if you claim that a rifle,EXAMPLE, is 1moa, EXAMPLE, because you shoot 5 5rd groups that are all under 1moa, EXAMPLE, but when presented with 5 1moa targets and you can't hit them all, EXAMPLE, your rifle, EXAMPLE, is not moa. EXAMPLE

i see people claim 1moa all the time, but when you overlay the groups, it is 3moa. that rifle would be 3moa, not 1moa.
