Which non-ballistic weapon has the most utilitarian applications as a weapon, being used for combat of some kind (as opposed to a tool).

I was thinking of the present day though I guess thoughts on the same question at different points of history is fine too.

Pic definitely not related.

What do you mean, what weapon would be most useful for fighting but still has a utilitarian function, like a hammer or machete, or what weapon is most functional in combat?

The spear is the king of weapons, its relativity easy to use, effective against a wide variety of opponents and cheap to produce and maintain

And if you are going to be in close quarters such as in a building short spears like cold steels short assegai or a zulu iklwa still have the benefits of a spear with the added benefit of being able to slash fairly well

Yeah, an axe. The ability to easily and effectively work wood is paramount to both survival and civilization.

With a knife sidearm so you can make more axes

A sword. Swords can be carried easily and you can do a lot of varied techniques that you can't with other comparable weapons

>>32356155
>>32357495
Tool axes make fucking useless fighting axes, not nimble enough, and weapon axes make shit tools. Swords can cut trees too.

an entire board of weapons enthusiasts and not one of you have said shovel.

For shame /K/. for shame.

This thing can dig a trench, a grave, a flower garden, or even simply a hole in the ground.
It can also function as an axe, mace, knife (sharpen the edge), club, and short spear. on top of that you can also employ it as a makeshift grappling hook, climbing tool, hammer, and cooking pan.

A small but sturdy bearded axe should cover about every need. You can whittle with it, cut smaller trees and kindling, or use the "hook" of the beard in combat for the weapon side of things
