Tell me, why do people put suppressors 5.56 rifles? 5.56 is perhaps the shittiest cartridge to suppress in terms of noise, so why even bother?
>>
>5.56 is perhaps the shittiest cartridge to suppress in terms of noise
what makes you say that?
>>
Same reason they use suppressors on any gun, to conceal the muzzle report.
>>
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/11/22/corps-put-silencers-whole-infantry-battalion.html

>"What we've found so far is it revolutionizes the way we fight," Love told Military.com. "It used to be a squad would be dispersed out over maybe 100 yards, so the squad leader couldn't really communicate with the members at the far end because of all the noise of the weapons. Now they can actually just communicate, and be able to command and control and effectively direct those fires."

>"It increases their ability to command and control, to coordinate with each other," Wade told Military.com. "They shoot better, because they can focus more, and they get more discipline with their fire." The noise of gunfire can create an artificial stimulus that gives the illusion of effectiveness, he said. When it's taken away, he explained, Marines pay more attention to their shooting and its effect on target.

it still lets a shitton of noise + it doesn't muffle the supersonic crack

Because 5.56 is supersonic.

Because they are loud.

The same could be said for most rifle calibers, hardly an indictment of 5.56. You know AK suppressors only knock off about 15 DB, right?

it doesnt destroy your ear drums with every shot

Whats .308/7.62 NATO sound like suppressed?

Is it practical, or feasible to suppress a machine gun?

Suppressed rifles for everyone soon.
>>
>>32345989
That's called 22LR
>>
>>32346160
And 22LR still has to be loaded down to get subsonic ammo.
>>
>>32346188

Loaded down from what?

If you buy subsonic .22lr that is what the load is.

If you buy supersonic .22lr that is what the load is.

if the barrel is short it enough it can be subsonic

also if the barrel is ported and integrally suppressed

What?

If a barrel is suppressed a commercial .22lr subsonic could become supersonic?

No, he means the other way around. Some integral suppressor systems use ports on the barrel within the suppressor to bleed off extra gas and lower the velocity of the bullet.

if you're gonna do subsonic out of a 5.56, just swap the barrel and use 300memeout

You can still hear the supersonic crack on Suppressed ars, but you can't hear it in suppressed aks. (Or a really really quiet crack)

Yes, guns with different calibers and actions sound different, especially when recorded with a shitty iPod microphone. How insightful.

Literally the opposite of reality unless you're using some kind of custom gas block.

The crack will be the same sound. It's the bullet breaking the sound barrier. Will be pretty much the same DB of report every shot if its supersonic.

alarger diameter = more gas escaping = more noise

Fuck off retard. No camera captures sound accurately especially some faggot on a YT video.
>>
Because you're taking something really, really, really loud and making it just really loud
>only reduces 15db
The decibel scale is logmarithic. Its not a constant scale. That rifle without a suppressor is FIFTEEN TIMES louder.
>>
>>32345994
>only 15DB
Sounds shitty until you realize decibels are a logarithmic unit.
>>
Why do people put mufflers on cars? I can still hear the engine, so why even bother?
>>
>>32345827
Why do people bother putting mufflers on their f150s instead of just buying priuses to mitigate sound?
>>
>>32346958
its more like 1.5 times louder, 5 times more powerful
>>
Harm reduction, duh. With advanced muzzle brakes we have now you can effectively make an Assault Battle Rifle, but we don't do it because the muzzle blast is fucking horrendous.

There's also a tactical advantage of reducing muzzle flash to nothing and making it more difficult to discern exactly where the noise came from.
>>
>>32346585
You do it so you can communicate while you fight and shoot, asshole.
>>
>>32345827
So, what's wrong with it?
99% of the world aren't NRA trump voting troglodytes who spends 10 hours a day shooting targets (who they fantasize as being minorities), so you'll have to explain to us what's wrong with it.

I bet it's something as this being a 6.23472 upm caliber AK bullet model having the wrong lenght by 0.1 of an inch or something, you fucks spend 10 hours a day memorizing bullet and weapons names and then have the gall to say learning a few genders is complicated

Ugh
>>
>>32346958

15 dB equates to nearly 32 times the volume, actually.
>>
>>32347249

>genders
>a few

but that's not how it works

For most tactical purposes shooting supersonics through a suppressor is more beneficial than shooting subsonics.

>>
>>32346147
I would make sex to that raifu
>>
I don't want a fucking suppressor for my AR because I think it will make my rifle "quiet".

I want one because it will DEFINITELY make it QUIETER than it is. Less noise is preferable to more noise.

Currently, I make do with a flash suppressor because less flash is better than no flash, and I don't want to go through the ATF bullshit of buying a sound suppressor.

I suppose it would make sense to put one on as an advanced muzzlebrake.

however it heating up might cause some limitations. How many rounds until they're fucking piping hot anywho?
