Been going back and forth trying to decide on a AR or AK. Considering Arsenals are now the bear minimum of a functional AK($1200+) I'm now leaning more on an AR since I could buy or build a gucci one for the price of a just-acceptable AK.

It's Springfield's last attempt to stay relevant in the rifle market. It's an entry-grade AR that's only saving grace is the BCM LPK. SA makes none of the parts and it's a kit-built gun.
Is it worth $900? No. Is it work $700? Yes. I wouldn't buy it for the other anon's report of the semi BCG and the melonite barrel.

If they chrome-lined the barrel and included a nicer rear sight, then they can justify $800.

tl;dr: buy a PSA if you want cheap, or build your own.

If you are set on one, get it with the SRT. It's size and weight make it great for when you actually need to shoot something, but I found it pretty obnoxious as a carry option given the limited capacity. Im not sure if the holster selection has improved a great deal but back when I was carrying a 239 the only real option was a RCS OWB. It was ok if wearing a cover garment like a button up but it still printed more than other guns I was rotating through at the time

Im not even sure what the IWB options were back then. RCS was the only game in town and they only had the OWB at the time. Im sure I wouldv'e have better luck with a IWB, I carry a g19 with a Tlr1 IWB and I only cover it with a t shirt here in FL.

The battery life has always been an issue with eotechs, but is the case with any holographic sight, as they consume much more power than red dots like the Aimpoint Micro and Triji MRO. That coupled with Eotechs questionable business practices has left a bad taste in alot of people's mouths. I had one and loved the reticle but noticed a slight bit of thermal drift when I left the the optic and rifle in the trunk of my car during a hot summer day. It really wasn't a huge issue and I would've overlooked it had eotech not lied about the temperature threshold or offered full MSRP refunds for the units.

I used the money to get an MRO which I love, but I still miss that 65 MOA circle and dot

Well I would strongly advise against the Hogue rubberized grips. For whatever reason, that rubber just felt weird on the torso. It also added some unneeded girth. The wood grips might be ok if you use an undershirt . My first g19 had a stippled frame so I've already chaffed off all my nerve endings around my waist.
