Well i got myself a nice pair of timerbland boots and I'm wondering if any of you guys use ballistol to protect your leather boots?
Also ballistol thread.

You probably COULD get away with that, but there are far better products out there for protecting them that are pretty cheap

It's ok for that but mineral oil isn't great to get on your skin, even if it's not toxic, it might be carcinogenic.
It'll also darken the leather. If you want that effect, Obenaufs LP is better and also waterproofs. Also look at Sno Seal. If not, just get a leather conditioner like the one Otter Wax makes.

Dumbass, just use vaseline or any other kind of dry skin lotion. Ive been using my wifes moisterizer for 3 years on my boots and they are good to go.

Coconut oil. Refined medium temp (unrefined will smell like coconut). Apply extremely sparingly with your bare hands using body heat to liquify the oil. There's at least one video on YT showing this.
Also get a $10 horse hair brush from Allen Edmonds, they're great for the price.
Lastly get a cedar shoe tree that will fit (probably around $20 off Amazon). After removing boots for the day, let breathe for a half hour and stick the tree in for the night.
Enjoy your new boots.

Just use motorcycle chain lube.

It doesn't work very good. Seems to dry out fast.
Get some mink oil.

Shit smells weird bro...

mink oil is too dark, itll ruin his boots. Plus over treatment with degrade the leather quality. Hes better off using Camp Dry, its what I use on my boots now.

What this guy said, most oils are going to break down the leather a bit, making its softer but way less durable. Mink and Neatsfoot are particularly agressive. There are tons of inexpensive waxes out there that will keep your leather waterproof and looking good. And remember, chrome tanned leathers are a meme, vegetable tanned leathers are the true second coming.
