Anyways, the strategy would be to cut off all access to communications and transportation. Radio equipment, internet, air fields, ports, roads, cell phones, smoke signals, whatever. Go full President Madagascar on them.

I would primarily carry a M1A. I'd have a Glock 19 for practical purposes and a .44 mag for fun. I largely want to treat it like the most dangerous game, so I would be a woodsline shooter with a few buds and catch a Toyota back to camp at the end of the day.

That is difficult in low tech regions, as the entire army is used to use substandard ways of communication like runners and satelite phones. You can disrupt them up to a certain point, but distractions and subterfuge are much easier. Weak communications make it hard to disprove false intel and forged orders.
